The room was basic and very clean. Location was perfect for our reunion
No luggage rack in room and no counter space to place luggage. Had to put suitcase at bottom of bed.
No box of tissues.
We slept and it was quite, but the room has wooden shudders that don't block light well. A poor choice when arriving from Pacific or Mountain time zones.
Winthrop Arms did not communicate with us and still hasn't. The hotel is basically unattended. The management does not answer phone calls or emails or text messages.(Perhaps when the restaurant opens at noon there will be someone there that also manages the hotel). Who knows? You are completely on your own with a late check in. We arrived after midnight. I got a call from someone the day before giving me a code to the lobby front door lock and the lock on the room. The room lock number was part of the address (secure?). The woman was unable to give useful directions to their parking lot, which is a walk and street crossing away from the lobby; and not visible from the hotel entrance. Luckily we could park a handicap spot on the curb.
our stay would have been better if i had the wifi code on check in and not had to call for it the next morning; there was no ice available; there was no staff available other than check in and that was transient
staff
restaurant, location
first room didn't have heating but we were given a different room which was great
No appropriate cups for coffee in the room
People in adjoining room came in at 1:30 am and were loud and had tv on. Lasted an hour
The staff and hotel were fantastic. I ate dinner down in the restaurant/pub and had a great meal. My room/suite was extremely comfortable and clean.
Close to the water good price.
Stains on couch. Beds and couch were not very comfortable and seemed old and squeaky.
The room was clean with comfortable beds, but AC was nonexistent and there were things that needed to be fixed.
No thermostat in room and when you have a question for anybody who works there, you can’t find a soul. They don’t even give you mugs with the coffee maker they provide and nobody there available to get one from the restaurant in the morning. Beautiful building, but they’re doing construction early in the morning if you would like to sleep in past 7 it will not happen
The hotel was not on the beach as advertised. We were told that check in was at 3:00, but we could get a parking pass and leave our luggage earlier. We arrived at 1:30 and could not find anyone in the hotel. I tried calling, no answer. Someone finally showed up at 3:30 and we were able to check in then. Ample free parking was advertised . The hotel is in a residential area, and there was limited parking on the street, but no parking lot. There were no elevators, and no help in getting our luggage upstairs. Zero amenities in the hotel, but the restaurant was great.
Nice hotel close to the ocean. It would be nice if the hotel provided tissue papers and soap.
Food was amazing nice to have a restaurant downstairs
Nit able to see ocean feo the room but it's just a shirt walk across the street
Rm was spacious and staff was friendly and accommodating of our late arrival. Beautiful neighbourhood to walk around in and close to the bay.
The hotel called the day before to see what time we’d be arriving. We came at the time I told them, and we waited in the lobby for 40 minutes before someone came and checked us in. In the meantime, there were three not very cordial or helpful employees that saw us waiting. Pretty disappointed in that! Room is a nice size and does have an ocean view. The bed is very high and hard to get in and out of.
It is an excellent restoration of a very old building. It was hard to carry suitcases up the steep stairs and the hours the desk was open is very constricted. The room was excellent and cleanliness was super. With the restaurant on main floor it was very quiet in our room as we had to go to sleep early due to early AM departure.
The reviews are mixed but it's an interesting place. It's right in the middle of a residential neighborhood on the lake. The restaurant is pretty cool. The room was basic but clean. I would suggest they get deadbolt locks on the doors but otherwise a safe, clean stay in a unique place. If you want a place near the airport to stay for a night, save some money and have an interesting story, this is the place.
If you like peace and quiet like me this is the place.only down side it was too far from the city and very little public transportation.
