Medieval Castle

We had a lovely stay in this unique hotel. The family that runs it are so friendly, would definitely stay here again!

Un avis plutôt mitigé; néanmoins plutôt positif.
Il s'agit d'un établissement qui loue ses studios et ses suites disséminés dans le village.
La chambre très petite avait la particularité de posséder 2 lits à des endroits séparés. L'un en bas, l'autre en haut d'un promontoire d'un accès particulièrement acrobatique.
Une autre chambre plus vaste nous a bien été proposée, mais située dans une cave sans fenêtre, elle sentait fortement l'humidité.
Le bandeau lumineux de la salle d'eau en panne, une des deux lampes de chevets inutilisable, la chasse d'eau du wc difficile d'usage et le frigo pris dans les glaces ne nous ont pas posé trop de problèmes mais peuvent en irriter de plus exigeants.
Le petit déjeuner sans grand intérêt n'est pas à porter au crédit de l'établissement et une amélioration dans la mise à disposition des denrées et de leur conservation serait souhaitable..
Néanmoins, la gentillesse et la disponibilité du personnel remonte la note de l'ensemble.
Le parking privé proche et sécurisé est bienvenu.
Ceci dit, le village est original et sympathique, peu-être légèrement surfait pour répondre aux exigences du tourisme moderne.

çok farklı bir tecrübeydi. bir kale içinde mağarada yaşadık :) magara olmasından dolayı havalandırma sorunu mevcut. ama onun dışında çok temiz. yarni ve ekibi çok ilgili. kahvaltı gayet yeterli. mesta güzel bir tercih.

レセプションは街の中心部だが、各部屋は街中に点在し、離れており、302号室はスーツケースを引きながら歩いて3分ぐらいの場所だった。予約時にチェックインの時刻を知らせていたにもかかわらず、レセプションは開いていたが、誰もおらず、結局、着いてから2時間半後にようやく人が現れ、チェックインまでだいぶ待たされ、精神的にしんどかった。レセプションは常に人がいる訳ではないようであり、2泊して人がいたのは初日だけで2日目と3日目は鍵がかかり、閉じられていた。部屋はかなり広い。周りの喧噪も聞こえず、静か。壁が石で厚いからか携帯電話の電波が不安定。Wi-Fiは全然繋がらなかった。構造上、仕方がないかもしれないが、細かい石が時々剥がれて落ちてくる。浴室のシャワー室は狭く、体の大きい人はほとんど動けず、かなりつらいと思う。お湯の出も悪く、シャワー室から結構水漏れする。2泊してタオル交換はなし。朝食は提携している街中のカフェで取れる。味はまあまあおいしかった。街自体が狭く、レストランやカファは徒歩5分ぐらいで辿り着けるので、ホテルの部屋が街中のどこであっても問題はないと思う。ピルギ行きのバスが朝6時半と昼過ぎの13時半しかなかったので、行きは仕方なく、街の入り口近くにあるタクシースタンドに書いてある電話番号に近くのレストランの人にお願いして代わりに電話して呼び出してもらい、片道15€かかった。帰りは14時40分発のバスでメスタに戻ったが20分ぐらいかかった。

As others have stated, Medieval Castle is a collection of rooms spread around a walled medieval village, which comes with uneven walkways, steep stairs, small windows, and small doorway entries. If you're okay with the medieval atmosphere, you can't go wrong here. Since you can't take your car in the village, we parked in a public lot outside the walls. We couldn't locate the office, so we asked a woman to help us. She walked us to the village plateia and delivered us at the cafe that the hotel runs. An employee there fetched an employee with keys for our rooms. She returned to our car with us and rode along, guiding us to the hotel's lot, also outside the walls. There is no easy way to get your luggage to the rooms, but when we left, the owner drove our luggage out in a cart. Our friends were not that happy with their room, especially when one fell down some of the stairs. We loved our room. It had a kitchen, private patio area, nice bathroom, and large sitting room/bedroom with a fireplace. It was beautifully decorated. A tiny window was up high, but the door to the sitting room had a screened window so we could get fresh air. Cons: spotting housekeeping; coffees were never replaced, air conditioning was weak, and if you have trouble with knees, the stairs could be an issue. Pros: comfortable bed, attractive room, nice TV, great patio area to watch the stars, excellent breakfast at the cafe, well stocked kitchen, great employees. We will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful. The owners treated us like family. The suite was very clean and extremely cozy. We will definitely return.

Son derece güler yüzlü karşılandık. Temizlik bakımından hiç bir sıkıntı yaşamadık ki oldukça titiz biriyimdir. Konum olarak sakin, dinlendirici ve orta çağ havasını iliklerinize kadar hissediyorsunuz; hele ki benim gibi orta çağ hayranı biriyseniz oldukça tatmin edici. Kahvaltı servisi idare eder seviyede; yalnız kahvaltıda verilen tatlı muhteşemdi. Kafanızı dinleyeceğiniz, huzurlu bir ortamda, harika koylara sahip bir ada da tatil düşünüyorsanız kesinlikle tercih edebileceğiniz bir yer. Yalnız daha fazla altrenatif ve canlılık düşünüyorsanız Sakız merkez ve ya Vrontados taraflarını tercih etmeniz gerekiyor. Mesta'da konaklamayı düşünüyorsanız araç kiralamanızı şiddetle öneriyorum.

Medieval Castle isn't really a castle at all. It is series of renovated apartments near the center of a medieval walled town, Mesta. Featuring stone, barrel vaulted ceilings, and sleeping quarters with separate small kitchens, opening on to a small courtyards, the suites are probably all different and quite charming. Also featured is excellent wifi, flat screen TV, a writing desk and sofa. The bathroom is rudimentary, but adequate. The bed in my unit was hard and uncomfortable, mounted on a raised platform accessible by crawling from the foot of the bed to the pillow end . There is a reception office near the central church, but the real headquarters of Medieval Castle Hotel is the Cafe Moana in the central square near the church entrance. This is where the excellent free breakfast is served to guests. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, the town is picturesque and authentic, having so far avoided becoming a "tourist trap". "Medieval Castle" is a nice way to discover the stone labyrinth that is Mesta.

The most important thing to note is that the Medieval Castle description is with regard to the whole village of Mesta i.e. you don't stay in a "castle" but in an apartment within one of the small old buildings in the village accessed from a pathway.

The apartment had been recently refurbished and was attractive; it had a small seating area as part of the kitchen and an attractive barrel ceiling bedroom with a small shower room. There was a small outside area with a table and chairs. We were staying off season so the associated restaurant was not open. A modest breakfast was provided at a local bar. One guy seemed to run it all and he was pleasant and helpful.

I would judge the apartment as expensive for what it offered.

Mesta is a very appealing place to walk around and just explore. However I suspect that even in peak season there is little choice with regard to restaurants. You most definitely need a car; the island is quite big and Mesta is a long way from the airport or Chios town (45mins). There are other fortified villages ("Castles") to see and the countryside is very pleasant. We came by ferry from Cesme and my advice is to check whether the ferries are running before making the trip to the port. We had been issued boarding cards for a 08.00 ferry on Monday when going out on the preceding Saturday, but the ferry simply didn't exist!

Mesta'daki en güzel odalar sanırım burada. Temiz, tasarımı güzel, rahat, sessiz. Kahvaltısı güzel ve doyurucu.

Beautiful place to stay. Great food, and interesting location. Only criticism was the steps are more of a challenge for elderly people.

Great renovation that kept the charm of the medieval period these rooms were constructed along with the modern conveniences. Great place!

Karfas'ta kalmayı unutun. İnanılmaz kalabalık ve sıradan. Eğer değişik bir tecrübe arıyorsanız mutlaka bu otelde kalmalısınız. Evet merkeze uzak ancak gezeceğiniz her yer zaten adanın güneyinde. Hem gidilemeye değer her yere son derece rahat ulaşacağınız bir konumda hem de olağanüstü derecede konforlu ve temiz bir otel. Tarihi olması sebebiyle de harika. Ayrıca güzel dekore edilmiş ve geceleri meydanda bulunan harika bir tavernada ortaçağ atmosferi ile yemek yiyip sonra da ortaçağdan kalma odanızın taş duvarları arasında oldukça serin bir odada uyuyabilirsiniz.

We had a perfect week at Medieval Castle Suites, Mesta. In the lead up to our break the communication was excellent and John was there with a warm welcome to Mesta even though we arrived out of hours. The suite surpassed our expectations and was exceedingly comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable. The staff and local people were all exceptionally hospitable. We were privilaged to be invited to get involved in the Mesta festivities. We were given advice about where on the island to visit in order to maximise our stay and great places to eat in the viscinity.  The parking was convenient.  It was my wife's birthday during our stay and we were treated to a complementary bottle of local wine. John also sourced a beautiful bunch of flowers for her.  We would highly recommend the hotel and the stunning, unspoilt island of Chios!

Fantastisk og unik opplevelse iom man bor inne i en borg. Rommene har blitt flott pusset opp og gir en helt spesiell stemning.
MEN, be ALLTID om å få et rom som ligger i 2. etasje selv om dere blir tilbudt et større rom som ligger på gateplan. De sliter med HØY luftfuktighet i alle rom på gateplan. Hadde vi visst dette i forkant hadde det vært full score på alt.
