The hotel is the perfect choice for exploring the area. It is very modern and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. We were in awe of the glacier lagoon and had an amazing experience exploring the ice caves. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent and fueled us for a day of exploring. We enjoyed food from the bar, but the restaurant menu was a little too fancy for our teenage boys. We did pack a carry on of snacks as food is very expensive.
Perfect
Comfortable, clean, beautiful and decorated with high taste !
The bar and restaurant are amazing
Breakfast is really good with a lot of variety
Stunning location, gorgeous hotel, and truly delicious food and drinks! The breakfast is a fantastic option for a nourishing, health-conscious start to the day. The gym is compact but well-equipped with all the essentials. Guests can also enjoy a dry sauna, two small pools, and two loungers for relaxing.
The hotel was great — super nice staff, friendly yet really professional.
We actually had our best northern lights moment of the whole trip thanks to the amazing window in our room.
And the sunrise? Even better. The view from the breakfast room was honestly breathtaking.
Food and cocktails were such a good surprise too — a refined mix that really highlights Icelandic culture and cuisine, all in a relaxed, elegant atmosphere.
And the spa… absolutely perfect after a long day exploring
We chose this place for our trip to the Icelandic south coast in November/December 25 because it is kind of isolated (better chance to see the northern lights) and still a short drive to/from Vik and also to Jökulsárlón. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are not too big but nice And clean and cozy. We very, very strong winds during our two nights stay so it was a bit noisy during the night but I mean it’s Iceland in Winter what do you expect? The view from our room was amazing, Having a sauna that you can use with hot tubs outside is a plus. They have a nice bar and the restaurant is pretty good.
It's a very nice hotel, i will come back again!
Very friendly staff, clean, big rooms! Free parking.
We stayed here for 2 nights, had a nice view. Looking out of the windows near the bed we could see some northern lights..
The hotel was very pretty. The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was very good, but the dinner menu was just OK. The hot tub was very relaxing minus the extreme wind that was blowing in.
Beautiful hotel.
stayed w family (2 small kids two adults) & had plenty of room. Food was delicious. Great small gym , hot tubs and sauna. Highly recommend if you’re looking for close place to stay near Jökulsárlon .
This was a nice enough hotel. It had OK mattresses, several hot tubs, and a pretty good view. That said, it was far from the upscale that most Americans would expect for a hotel that is well over $500 per room per night in the middle of nowhere
Incredible location, room and facilities. The friendliest, most helpful staff and an exceptionally great restaurant. Best hotel experience ever
Not as nice as Myvatn Fosshotel and certainly much, much busier. This hotel was a good in terms of where it is located and after driving for hours it was a welcome stop. The beds int his hotel are really funny though. Their toppers are so huge that you fall off the bed.
Location, rooms furnishings stylish. No light to see how to operate coffee machine ridiculous. Breakfast v good. Bar menu was served without separating courses and so it all arrived at once hot and cold food. Dinner was minimal affair £75 for one chicken breast a rosti of potato not roast potatoes, smothered in bacon source cos they were out of gas to make foam. On another bed of parsnip puree. Why take a perfectly good chicken breast and mess with it ? This is not fine dining it’s designer dining!!!. But the most infuriating thing was and been asked it with other guests behind was did we want a double bed? !!! This is 2025 in what is supposed to be liberal Iceland!!. I wonder if the receptionist would like asking is this your boyfriend or husband and will u be sleeping together??!!! The ultimate was the butter served on a rocking pebble with volcanic salt -a designer gone mad. V disappointing .
Excellent location. Friendly staff and the hotel warm and cosy with excellent restaurant, and nice spa included in the stay
Great location, near the Diamond beach and "remote" enough so we can feel unique when seeing the auroras.
Impecable cleaning.
Lovely hotel, woodsy vibe. Nice hot tubs out back. Bit of a weird setup as you are walking past the restaurant in tone and slippers to get to the spa/hot tubs. Nice bar area. Aurora wake up calls were perfect as we got to see the lights a second time on our visit. Right in front of the hotel.. Had more room amenities than other same cost hotels we stayed in. Location is very remote so there is no place to get food aside from the hotel. So eat before if you don’t want to eat there. English breakfast available but was not particularly hot. Room on the small side but not too bad. Very close to the glacier lagoon and diamond beach which are awesome and a must see.
Hotel was excellent, complimentary breakfast, courteous staff, room was clean and well appointed. Sauna was great with robes and slippers in the room. 5 stars!
We had a difficult time during the checking -in on 8 th October & we’re not happy with the room allocated to us, but GM Hrafnhildur, was very helpful and supportive and sorted the issue smoothly and even was helpful to celebrate our Anniversary in the manner which we will remember for lifetime.
Northern Lights wake up call was the best. Got the call and 2 am and saw the ights right over the hotel which was big reason for coming to Iceland. Staff was great!
Cozy room with fantastic view. There is hot Tub and sauna Area for free use, a good please to relax during trip.
Best place to stay near glacier lagoon and diamond beach
