Received a voucher for afternoon tea for 2 people so took my friend this afternoon. Very underwhelming experience. Cakes and scones were hard and dry. They definitely weren’t fresh. One cake was completely inedible. I mentioned it to the waitress and she replaced it with a second brownie. Waitresses were lovely and kept us topped up with pots of tea. I was embarrassed that about taking my friend there as I thought it would be a lovely experience. Sadly it was the opposite.
Glad to see that the Parkmore has done away with the policy of taking bookings via Booking.com on a 'pay at the property' basis then expecting payment in advance on check-in, even for a multi-night stay. This time at least it was made clear that payment would be taken in advance. Breakfast good - and finally kippers have been taken off the menu after years of being on but never available. Helpful staff lent me an extension lead in case my single room was one of those where the kettle cable is too short to reach the table from the socket!
But the extension lead didn't work! Never mind, the kettle cable was long enough
Very disappointed was refused dinner. Told chef no mor orders an hour earlier than advertised last orders. Had enquired earlier in the day if I needed to book a table for diner and was told no,just turn up.
I did and was refused.duty manger spoke to me after I asked reception if they could recommend somewhere as kitchen was closing early. Duty manager very apologetic but if he was sincere he would have made some token gesture or allowance in my bill.
Booked for the pool but notavailable for our stay. We were really disappointed at this.
No lock on toilet door. Lack of storage.
Location
Booked for an overnight with the intention of using pool and spa was made aware 2 hrs before we arrived that it wasn’t open due to refurbishment
Would have been a nice gesture to upgrade our room or a free drink etc didn’t even get a discount really disappointed
Also room wasn’t 100% clean there was a plaster and a gummy sweet on the floor
Excellent service from staff

I stayed at The Parkmore to visit family and friends and couldn’t be more pleased with my stay. The staff are what make The Parkmore; so friendly and so welcoming. I travelled alone for the first time in a while and, as an autistic person, felt comfortable to let the staff know this. Heartfelt thanks go to Joanne who helped me with a minor wobble! She helped me move rooms without fuss, without question - your understanding meant more than you may realise! I chose the hotel because of its ideal location to visit family and friends, and is so close to Yarm. It’s accessible by foot, bus, or taxi. I enjoyed a wonderful sunny walk through Preston Park over the road, too, reminiscing my childhood years spent exploring the woods!
I was extremely impressed with the gym, which was another reason I chose to stay there. It’s equipped with Technogym equipment which meant I could use my app as if training in my local gym, which I loved!
The atmosphere at the hotel was very friendly and released, not overly busy. I enjoyed a cooked breakfast in the restaurant on one morning of my three-night stay.
The hotel advertises that there is an imminent refurbishment on the way, which I think is somewhat timely, as the rooms, whilst comfortable and totally suitable, could do with an upgrade, aesthetically. However, refurbishment or not, I’d be back to stay at The Parkmore in a heartbeat. What a great hotel, great staff, with extremely good value for money. It’s very clean, it’s comfy, it’s exactly what you need for your stay without paying over-inflated prices of B&Bs in Yarm.
Thank you again - I look forward to coming back soon! 🙌
Location is great, nice area compared to surrounding areas. Which isn't difficult. The place is clean and tidy. I stayed there 4 times within the 2 weeks and room towards front of hotel are alot nicer and better standard than the ones at the back of hotel.. I thought for the money they should include breakfast.
