It’s very comfortable
We booked this hotel specifically because it had a pool, and according to the hotel's website, children under 16 must leave the leisure facilities after 6pm. My son is 16, so we expected he would be able to use the facilities without any issues.
Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. On our first night, the pool was closed. On the second night, the leisure manager told my son he had to leave the pool because he was under 18. This directly contradicted both the information on the website and the fact that he had been allowed to use the other leisure facilities after 6pm the previous evening.
When I questioned the policy, staff were unable to show me anything online stating that the age limit was 18. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, the duty manager was dismissive and rudely said, "All complaints come to me anyway," when I explained I would be making a complaint. As the pool was the sole reason we chose this hotel, this was incredibly frustrating. I've even included a photo of the hotel's own information stating that the restriction applies to those under 16.
It's such a shame because the hotel itself is lovely. The rooms are beautiful, the facilities (when we were actually allowed to use them) are excellent, and our evening meal was one of the nicest we've had in a long time. Breakfast wasn't quite as impressive, although there was plenty of choice.
Overall, this could have been a fantastic stay, but inconsistent policies and poor customer service left us feeling very disappointed. I don't mind rules when they're clear and applied consistently, but that simply wasn't the case here.
Room was nice
Quiet hotel
No smart tv
No fridge in room
Limited food menu
£100 deposit on arrival we where in awear of
Friendly staff, good breakfast, ideal location, ample parking
Mattress too soft, no extract fan in the en-suite, plug in the sink needs unblocking, no bottled water provided, no fridge,
Beautiful building, lovely breakfast, spacious room
Room layout/facilities weren't laid out particularly effectively. Not enough plug sockets and the ones that were there were in awkward spaces. You had to put the kettle on the floor to boil it, same for the iron, and using things like hairdryers was also difficult.
Friendly staff, clean room, good food, good facilities, great value for money.
The TV was abit out of date, would have been good to have streaming services.
Friendly and helpful staff my room key was taken by my cousin who left through the night and staff helped me straight away
Nothing
Great location, the staff were fantastic. First stay in one of the newly redecorated rooms. Charming place
The location near Eaglescliffe Golf Club
I booked a junior suite. The layout of the room was terrible. The small ‘lounge’ area has no window and is literally a waste of space.
The breakfast was terrible. We had to ask the young man who was on duty for a number of things as items had run out and the quality of the produce was very poor.
Nothing
Booked it a last minute thing and I can see why now never again
Nosiest place we've ever stopped in
Someone's toe nail clipping all the bathroom and bedroom
The pool as always
I have been multiple times with my 11year old son and for the first time wasn't allowed in the hot tub.
Everything was great welcoming staff, clean well equipped room and spa was great.
Great staff
Some of the communal areas a little tired
