De lokatie aan het plein in het midden van de ommuurde stad van Cartagena is onbeschrijfelijk. Sunrise aan de ene kant, sunset aan de andere kant. Geweldig uitzicht vanaf de rooftop op de 4e verdieping. Loopafstand van alle kraampjes en activteiten. Heel veilig. Ik kreeg een room upgrade en de kamer was smaakvol, romanisch met hoog plafond, hoge deuren van massief hout. Ontbijt was pure verwennerij. Eggs benedict, aparte fruitsoorten, alles werd met zorg en toewijding bereid. Personeel was uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Hotel Sophia OXO in Cartagena is a charming and comfortable hotel located right in the heart of the walled city. We stayed there during Easter and loved being surrounded by the festive activity and vibrant energy of the area. Once the holiday ended, things quieted down, making it a peaceful spot to enjoy the city’s historic beauty on foot without needing any transportation.
Our suite was spacious, with a sofa, a table and four chairs, and a king-size bed. The room also had a large wardrobe, plenty of shelves, a minibar, a huge TV with many accessible channels, and lots of electrical outlets—which made things very convenient.
The building itself is old and full of historic charm, which adds to its unique atmosphere. While it’s not a modern, luxury-style hotel, it’s comfortable and well maintained. The staff were exceptional—polite, warm, and genuinely sincere in every interaction.
It is certainly on the expensive side, especially considering what you might expect for the same price in New York, but what you’re paying for is the experience of staying in a beautifully restored historical building in an unbeatable location. If you value character, authenticity, and attentive service, Hotel Sophia OXO is a lovely choice for your stay in Cartagena.

Excellent location, walking distance to pretty much anywhere. The rooftop and pool were a great spot to relax.
Clean, comfortable and cute rooms. The staff service was outstanding!! Happy and caring people who work hard to make the visitors feel like home. The food was delicious and fresh every day. Their breakfast has many options complemented with fresh fruit and coffee.
Definitely a great choice!!

Sophia Hotel is an excellent choice in Cartagena, Colombia, especially if you want to stay in the center of everything without being stuck in the middle of the noise.

**Location:**
The hotel is perfectly located in the Walled City, in a central area close to shops, restaurants, bars, and major attractions. It is convenient for walking almost everywhere.

**Atmosphere:**
The atmosphere is very nice and peaceful, while still being just around the corner from the festive activity. You get the best of both worlds—easy access to the nightlife and a relaxing place to return to.

**Room:**
The room was nice and spacious, with a comfortable bed and great pillows. It included a small L-shaped couch, a small desk, a large bureau/closet, a small safe, and a mini-bar refrigerator.
The bathroom layout is a little different but works well: the sink is in the open area in the room, while the toilet and a large stand-up shower are separated. The towels were excellent—very large, thick, and soft. Honestly, they were so good, I would love to know where to buy them.

**Value:**
This is a mid-range hotel for the area, and the cost is well worth what you get.

**Cleanliness:**
The room, bathroom, and hotel overall were very clean. Housekeeping cleans the room daily, which helps keep everything fresh and comfortable.

**Noise Level:**
It could occasionally get a little noisy at night during festivals, but overall it was pretty peaceful—especially considering the location.

**Service:**
Outstanding service. This was my sixth visit to the hotel, and during the last three or four visits, the staff remembered my name and my preferences. They are always welcoming, with a smile and a kind word. That level of consistency says a lot.

**Amenities:**
They have a very nice rooftop bar and pool area with a great view of the city. Breakfast is included with the room, which adds to the overall value.

**Overall:**
Sophia Hotel delivers a strong combination of location, comfort, cleanliness, and service. If you want a reliable, well-run hotel in Cartagena’s Walled City, this is a very solid choice.
