Needs a better shower and a shower curtain. with a curved rod
I had the pleasure of staying here from December 17-21 2018, and it is the fourth time I've stayed here. The staff are wonderful - and I'd recommend anyone to talk with them, and listen to their stories. The restaurant's food (especially the fish in skillet!) and atmosphere is wonderful, as is the spa, and the local monastery opposite. The rooms are good, and the beds are so warm and comfy! I always feel comfortable here, and I will come back. Thank you for four wonderful stays.
I like everything about this hotel, and the fact that it's undergoing improvements will hopefully manage to restore its former 4-star status. A couple of suggestions I would have, is, firstly, that the mini-cafe on the 2nd floor doesn't seem to have prescribed opening times or a dedicated staff member past 7pm. It's a nice addition to this hotel's experience, and would add to that feeling of homeliness that this hotel is so good at providing. Also, when the restaurant is being used for parties, it would be great to have a calendar giving guests more advanced notice of this, because I love eating in the restaurant, and having a late night cappucino in the downstairs bar!
Good location near metro station, friendly staff, comfort and quiet place near a church, but very basic breakfast
Stayed for four nights during the FIFA World Cup. The hotel is perfectly situated in a monastery park a five minutes walk from the Tulskaya metro (grey line) that takes you to the city centre or elsewhere in 10 - 15 minutes. The architecture of the hotel is not worth writing about, but the inside is ok. Well functioning bathroom, daily cleaning, a hard mattress and good sleep quality. BBC News on TV. English speaking staff at the reception. Breakfast was a little bit under average compared to Scandinavian standards due to the low quality of bread and lack of fresh food, but you have several other opportunities.
We were in Moscow during the FIFA World Cup 2018. Perhaps that was the reason the hotel prices were very high. This was reasonably priced, but still higher price than normal and the quality wasn’t very good.
- outside looks like the hotel is stuck in the 60’s Soviet Union
- inside it looks the same as mentioned above
- the cleaners didn’t bring new shower gel at any point
- air condition didn’t work properly
+ there is a metro station (Tulskaya) nearby
+ the garden where the hotel is located is nice
Excellent friendly staff with a permanent smile on their faces. Would stay again
Hotel is a bit dated. Nice staff, large room but no new updates. I had a room facing east and when the sun came up around 4 AM, the whole room was as bright as day - could have used better curtains. The neighborhood was nice with restaurants and shopping nearby.
This place is safe and out of the way. The staff was excellent and very fluent in English
Located in a park belonging to a monastery. Quiet and picturesque.About 5 minute walk from metro stop, large shopping mall and restaurants. Metro is one stop from Polyanka -- museums, galleries, Red Square etc. Room was large, well equipped, clean and comfortable, except for old-fashioned TV with tiny screen and only lots of Russian channels. WIFI in the room had problems (not unusual in Moscow) but worked fine in the lobby. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. The staff were professional and helpful. Great value for money.
We were delighted with the hotel-comfortable room, friendly staff who speak perfect English (one especially helpful woman who has lived in NYC), and great breakfasts. The common areas are beautifully decorated and the grounds are lovely and peaceful. A great place to escape to after a busy day being a tourist! I would return in a heartbeat. The hotel is not in the center of the city, but we took the AeroTrain from the airport and metro from there (after long flights from the US) and managed to find the hotel without knowing any Russian.
This hotel is an oasis of peace in a busy city. Close to the centre of Moscow by metro the hotel is owned by the patriarchate and full of beautiful artworks and iconography. My room, or rather, suite was to the highest modern standards overlooking the Danilov Monastry from which the hotel gets its name. The room was quiet and spotlessly clean. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was particularly Russian but very acceptable. I would definitely come back to this hotel.
This hotel belongs to the Moscow Patriarcate and is more or less within the premises of the Danilovski Convent (Orthodox).
The hotel is well maintained. My room was a bit old-fashioned, especially the furniture, but it was comfortable enough. Nice view on the Monastery.
Breakfast is a plus, very good, much choice.
And location is convenient, a few minutes walk from the subway (Tulskaya).
I recommand!
Some staff friendly, some other staff unfriendly, small and outdated rooms nevertheless clean and good free internet access, as negative detail, having breakfast the first day and we were negatively surprise for the poor options and rude host, nevertheless next day the staff was changed, very nice guy even speaking a little in Inglish, he offered many options for a hot breakfast such as eggs or even russian plates. It is a pitty how a bad staff can ruine or change your well deserved vacations
