Pros:

Grazie a tutti

Doxa Its should not be on any charter list
Pros:

Doxa Hotel dont even deserve a 1 star. Before going here I didn't expect the most fancy hotel ever, but I assumed that they would atleast have the bare minimum. After being surprised over how bad it actually was I looked at some more reviews and it turns out they havent dont anything to improve these. Some were old reviews and the same problems were still present. Here are some few reassons they deserve bad reviems: 1. Management dont speak English( good comminacation is a must in any hotel ) and is run by an older woman who didnt understand what we meant when we asked about something 2. Internet did not work in Our room and we had to ask several times about this and they still didnt do much. 3. The breakfast is a joke; dry bread, some ham and eggs. 4.The beds are so hard that you feel like you're sleeping on the ground. We had some other issues as well, such as the showerhead falling off when we increased the pressure while showering and the light not working in the bathroom.

PS ! 2 good things; Location and it was clean ( but since we where the only one there ( 24 rooms ) the cleaning are not so difficult………..

Pros:

Hotel Doha fits nicely into a category of mine when I travel to Greece. A nice family run hotel which is a friendly, well maintained property.
It’s a nicely located, about a block from tha Marina, and a quick walk to the lake and pedestrian shopping district.

Spoilt
Pros:

Having just stayed at Doxa hotel with a friend I found the hotel simple, clean, close to beach and local fascilities, the young woman who does everything is very welcoming and helpful and her breakfasts are a nice start to the day , all much better than the all inclusive 5 star hotels , however all this positivity was ruined by the female owner who when we left our room almost pushed us out the way to check our room and then had the audacity to follow us to our taxi to demand we unpacked our cases as she said there was a towel missing ( sure she would find it on chair on balcony) we had been the perfect guests and this has angered me enough to never stay there again , shame

Traditional Greek, Timewarp
Pros:

We have just returned from a week in this quant traditionally Greek hotel, which seems rooted in the 70's, but in a kind way.
It is literally 2minutes walk from the beach, which we loved.
The wifi was non existent, so as long as you're happy to be detached all is fine.
The lady who runs the kitchen in the morning and also doubles as receptionist and chamber maid, spoke perfect English and was an absolute gem she summed up the hospitality of the Cretans.
The only down side was that as we left the lady owner followed us into the street accusing us of stealing a bath towel (they have probably had them since the 70's) and asking us to turn out our cases! We had to smile.
Would recommend a visit before his place disappears, taken over by the invading '5star all -inclusives' !

Clean, Cheap and Cheerful!
Pros:

We stayed here one night after returning from a trip to Spinalonga. It was mentioned in the Lonely Planets Guide to Crete so thought we would give it a go.

We had a double room with AC, fridge, safe and small balcony with a view of the small harbour/beach with breakfast included for just Euro45. The room was clean, staff we on hand 24/7 and the breakfast was just what the doctor ordered.

Only downside, or potential downside depending on how "connected" you like to be, was the free WiFi. There was one wireless access point on the 1st floor so if you were above this (we were on the 3rd floor) you could not even "see" the SSID. No internet that evening. Minor gripe and lets face facts you are on vacation so why should this matter, the photos pasting to BookFace can always wait for another day.

If you are in Agios Nikolaos for 1-3 nights and you are just looking for clean, central and affordable then I would certainly recommend. If you are looking for more amenities within a hotel and some creature comforts like a minibar, room service and olympic sized swimming pool then you need to cast your net further afield.

Point to note, there is no parking at the hotel but there is a facility costing Euro3 per day at the end of the street. We were here late May and did not have difficulty in getting a parking space, may well (this is just a guess) be more difficult when the season kicks off in earnest.

Pros:

Hi we stayed at this lovely family hotel.
It is not to big which makes it all friendly.
Minutes from beach small walk.
The hotel was very clean.the family owners made us very welcome..
Only had breakfast there..as so many eating places around.
Always went back end night to their nice little lounge bar . On the rakl and oozo. And a laugh.

Not going back
Pros:

This hotel is wonderfully situated by the beach with a great location. However, the rooms and staff were far below what I expected. My room had a clear hole where a colony of ants came in and out of the room and I returned to find many of them crawling in my bags, my clothes, and my bed. The sheets were stained and blood stains on a towel of mine. The hotel assures you that every 2 days all linens and towels are replaced, however that is not the case. I also found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. They had ridiculous policies and a few people on our trip were even locked out of the hotel at night and were left sleeping on the beach! I will never return to this hotel and I strongly advise you not to as well.

Nice
Pros:

We booked this hotel for the day when the hotel we had been staying at had a check out time of eleven AM and the flight home wasn't till eleven PM. It seemed okay. We didn't spend much time there as it was only one day. It's minutes from the beach and as it's on a one way street, you don't get the constant traffic that you get one street away. The shower wasn't great but it was functional. The air con worked quite well. The balcony furniture doesn't look like the photos. It's old and rusted but we were only there for the day so didn't use the balcony. We paid fifty euros, which, had we stayed over night, would have included breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here if we went Agios Nikolaos again, rather than the hotel we had been staying at.

Peace
Pros:

I stayed in room 301 which had a nice view of part of the marina from the balcony. I travelled alone and stayed for 1 week early July 2013.
For the first 3 days I did not see another guest but this was not a problem.
I guess to be fair I would describe the hotel as commercial grade, but I had no issues with that. The room although very basic was clean and serviced daily by the same lady that served breakfast.
The bathroom was very poky and the shower very tricky to get right, the room had no tea making facilities but had a fridge and TV.
The Internet at this level ( third floor) rarely worked and when it did was unreliable, but in the Reception Lobby worked fine.
The Bar was not open during my stay but there is a wide choice nearby.
Now the good bits.
Excellent location just a few metres from the sea.
Really nice shaded garden to escape the heat.
Dining Room pleasant
The breakfast lady was very helpful nothing too much trouble ( I did not see any family members or if I did they were in disguise)
Overall I would recommend this hotel but don't expect fancy rooms.
I booked this hotel based on the basis of reviews of others, as I have been to Crete before, don't be put off from using the Doxa jus be aware of its limitations
