What an incredible time we had at Enagron. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It really felt like they were a family. We had a fun time hiking to the shepherd’s house where we had a fantastic lunch and enjoyed the cooking lesson. The grounds were beautiful and the village was endearing. Highly recommend!!!
So I was a bit suspicious that this would be a fake touristy type of place. I could NOT have been more wrong. This is the real deal! Such an amazing place in a beautiful fertile valley. Absolutely local owned and family operated. Cooking class was amazing - thanks Effie!:). Great rooms, very clean, nice pool and spa area is great. Will definitely be coming back to this gem again!!
Un séjour parfait ! Un petit village pittoresque, un personnel aux petits soins, une 'atmosphère reposante, des paysages très beaux, une cuisine traditionnelle.
The hotel is a bit run down. The rooms are fine but rather antiquated. The view from the pool is incredible as is the overall setting.
The restaurant menu was a bit eccentric and the service slow.
The main issue we had during the peak summer is that it’s a very quiet part of Crete but too hot to do hiking etc
Nice and quite hotel, our room had a small terrace on the back.
Food is excellent having daily 2 specials. Service is great.
They provide a map with various hikes by foot or bike.
The most peaceful and relaxing place to spend your holiday. Flowers, small hidden places and lovely pools all around. The service is outstanding - makes you feel so welcome and relaxed. The food that is local creatan is amazing! Rooms are clean and the beds are made to have a good, long night sleep.
We recommend Enagron - also a great place to visit with children.
The nearest little town Axos is okay and Anogia - cute and beautiful - is a little nice place, where to buy a few nice souveneirs.
This was 3 nights out of a 3 week trip and was both a highlight and a respite from the exhaustion of traveling. The drive from Heraklion was beautiful, though the hills and narrow roads can be nerve wracking at times. Well worth it to arrive at this peaceful and very family friendly community of international guests and local, welcoming hosts. The owners and staff love their home and culture and enjoy sharing it with others. Take advantage of all their activities to maximize your experience. The breakfast was included in our rate and was generous and varied. The dinners were delicious and the most affordable of our vacation. This is the one destination we wished we had scheduled more days to enjoy!
Enagron was amazing from start to finish. If you want a true taste of Greek hospitality this is the place. We arrived very late from the airport (1am) and Nikolos was there to greet us with a smile, showed us to our suite, gave us a snack in case we were hungry from the travel and told us to finish our paperwork in the morning. Every day the staff were over and above in helpfulness. It was chilly, they have us wood and supplies for a fire, we had any questions they were ready to help. I wish I got the name of the lovely front desk woman, she was so lovely. The dinner staff was really the highlight for us, Thomas and George were so amazing, words cannot express how kind, helpful and fun they were to be around every night. If you want a good wine selection ask one of them, they are pros. We will miss Enagron. The food is delicious, not sure where we will find those yummy donuts at home! The property is also just so stunning! Only downside was the hot tubs weren't hot.
What a treat to get to stay at Enagron! It was like a luxury camp. The buildings are beautiful and varied. We (four adults) stayed in a large suite with three bedrooms and two baths. It was comfortable and had gorgeous views. The gorgeous views are actually everywhere, here. The pool, the spa area are lovely. We ate every meal here for three days and the food was remarkable--local, fresh, as well prepared as any we had on our trip. We also took advantage of any class or hike that was offered while we were there and these were fascinating glimpses into life in these mountains. Andonis was an excellent and patient guide.
I would be thrilled to get to stay here again and I'm telling many people about this place.
Fantastic place in the most beautiful surroundings. The management and all the staff are professional, friendly and helpful. As a swimmer I was able to use the fabulous pool before 10.00 at my own responsibility, which was heaven! The aroma of jasmine filling the air at 8 in the morning, vultures circling above, small birds chirping by the pool side. It really made my holiday there. I also had a massage with George which was excellent. I didn't get around to using the hydro massage area..... saving that for a future visit. Rooms are clean and the bed, pillows and bedding all high quality as are the towels. Wish I could have stayed longer!!
This was a great place to spend three nights. We took several hikes in the area, enjoyed some terrific views, ate well, and generally had a relaxing time. The staff is extremely helpful (one helped me navigate the free washing machine). Our room was spacious and pleasant. We slept well.
Perfect ! Feels like paradise.
Everything is just perfect !
Quiet and natural beauty .
Room 54 has a pool view.
The spa here is the best . George has wonderful hands and i had a best massage ever !! Choose the "Anchiale spa package" and just enjoy the life - you will thank me later !
For sure will come back :-)
Amazingly relaxing little gem way up in the mountains.... friendly staff amazing buffet breakfast, restaurant super authentic delicious local produce. Loved the interactive demonstrations of bread and cheese making. Fantastic pool, lovely hikes beautiful fully equipped villas. I literally can't think of a single negative. Will definitely return next time I'm in Europe.
The taste and quality of food was superb. Great buffet breakfast. Dinners amazing. Staff all friendly and helpful. Activities wonderful. The pool and nature environment so beautiful and relaxing. In the heart of significant antiquities. Rural and remote.
"En Agron", meaning "in the countryside" is an amazing place to stay in Crete. It's a family-owned and operated enterprise; you can really see the love and passion that they have for the land. Make sure to have some raki!
P.S. The pool view is truly spectacular
M wife and I really enjoyed our four days at Enagron. It's about half an hours pleasant drive from the north coast (although the last 500 meters is basically a dirt track) close to the small village of Axos and surrounded by mountains and olive groves.
Our accomodation was a beautiful 2 roomed apartment with a large bedroom and even larger living room with a kitchen and two extra beds. Huge balcony with a beautiful view over the mountains, nice bathroom and plenty of cupboard space.
There is a stunning pool area with plenty of sunloungers, and most people tend to go out and explore the surrounding area during the day, so it's very quiet and peaceful until mid afternoon. There are also some very interesting activities (cooking classes, hiking tours etc) organised for the guests, so there is plenety to do during the day. Breakfast was great and the restaurant has a good selection of locally produced organic food at very reasonable prices. Which is good because we did not particularly want to drive to and from the village to another taverna after dark!.
Surprisingly to us, there were a lot of families with young children there which, apparently, is normal for July and August. Not an issue, of course, but be aware that the pool area gets crowded and noisy after about 4pm and, of course, children will be participating in the various daytime activities. Just be aware in case you are assuming it's some kind of adults only retreat.
Great value for money as well. Definitely worth a visit!
We had an incredibly lovely stay.
The food is very nice. All cooked freshly with mostly ingredients from the garden. The breakfast was amazing. The dinner different every day.
The pool area is wonderful and they are currently expanding the spa area with jacuzzis.
The room was traditionally- furnished, simple and clean with a well working airconditioning unit and a kitchenette. The bed was too hard for us - but some pople do appreciate just this. There was a variety of pillows - soft and thicker.
We did a cooking class which was delightful. We learned a lot and had so much fun. It would have been nice to get the recipes to repeat them at home (nothing printed but maybe as a pdf via email or something to photograph during the session).
There is a nice playground for kids and the village is generally very kid friendly.
We decided to not take any spa treatments as they were very expensive even for Northern European standards (85 Euro for a 50 min massage).
The road to get there is a steep dirt road and for inexperienced drivers it might be a challenge. They have been building it but there are delays.
Careful to specify when you are traveling with three. I had booked the room for 2-3 people and during preparation we talked about a third party joining, which ended up not being the case. This was good as there was no sleeper sofa in our room as described on booking and a third person would not have fit.
One tip for the village: it would be nice if the rooms and bathrooms were vacuumed every couple days as it gets dusty even if you leave the shoes at the entry. There is service every day but they only make the bed and empty garbage bins.
Agreable sejour en pleine nature avec une piscine magnifique avec vuesur la montagne ! Excellent Restaurant sous une tonnelle de verdure. Seuls points discutables: la literie est moyenne ..
Lots to do; both organised activities and details to help organise our own. Extra service - arranging to send on clothes left behind - impeccable. Faulty heaters needed adjustment. Overall excellent.
