This hotel was just about perfect for us. It was very well located for us who like to walk & explore everywhere. The old town area, multiple, beautiful golden-roofed temples were nearby, as well as every kind of restaurant, shop, the night market, massage spas, the old city wall & moat & more. The hotel is situated around a good sized pool that attracted folks relaxing in chaise loungers (I heard people saying they were disappointed the bar closes early & so they were unable to have drinks while hanging out at the pool). There are beautiful bonsais all over the place (I was so jealous), an old school living room/library area, a very small gym, a fairly quick elevator (mind your head on the low ceiling when you exit the elevator) & a very good breakfast that included such local dishes as stir fry chicken with basil, cabbage in fish sauce, chicken teriyaki, a great coffee machine & hot chocolate (I wish they had had green tea also), eggs of any sort (you can order different egg dishes if you do not find one that satisfies you), pancakes, French toast, chicken ham & chicken sausage (aka chicken hot dogs) but very little fruit. Pillows were not too comfortable but the bed was. Yes, the bathroom is tiny (be aware that the bathroom floor is slippery) & the room is compact but those things did not bother us. The towels are fluffy. There is ample storage space & excellent wifi. Front desk staff was okay and the lobby is tiny, although many folks sit on the outdoor patio just past the lobby. The rain shower on our last morning was a cool sight to see & hear. A cool feature are the many folding dryer racks situated everywhere for guests to use. We did.
This was a great hotel. We loved staying here. The staff and amenities were what we needed on our trip.
The de Charme hotel was outstanding. The location was superb, the hotel itself was immaculately clean and well-designed and lovely. The staff was more than friendly and helpful, the interior courtyard and pool looked great, and the food was good, especially the breakfast which was part of our booking. The hotel made a huge difference in our visit to Chiang Mai, and I can't imagine staying in Chiang Mai and not stay at the de Charme. I would give it the highest rating. Chiang Mai was a big surprise for us.
Very enjoyable.
Absolutely enjoyed our stay here.
The people at the front desk made our stay extra special. Excellent service and attention to detail, assistance and always met with a smile. Very efficient.
A very clean place and beautiful pool. Rooms are spacious!.
Thank you everyone 💓 thanks Mr. Jo, Smile, Joy, Aom, Yom amd Pojnas well as owner!
bathroom and shower room design was terrible.
water pressure was poor and maintaining water temperature was an struggle.
I was there for 22 nights in this hotel and loved it. Place was clean, staff accomodating, venue was perfect right in the old city. Lots of greenery and fun. This was my first time in chiang mai and de charme has me hooked. I will be back!
Area is good but the room we stayed in smelled like something had died in there. Needs to be resolved asap.
More hot water
Cooler fridge
I enjoyed my stay and the staff were helpful. I was not given a very warm welcome when i arrived . I got the look up and down and asked what did i want? Maybe i wasnt dressed in my sunday bests but its not the way to greet a guest
Songkran Festival is the most awaited holiday in Thailand. It is celebrated annually from April 13 to 14, but other provinces have extended celebrations. As early as January, Thais are already making plans on where to go and where to stay. In order to get a good rate on the hotel, I booked my reservation end of January. De Charme Hotel in Chiang Mai is one of those reasonably priced hotels and its location is very convenient. Located inside the wall of Old Chiang Mai, the De Charmed Hotel is a quaint place. For less than 40 US, I got a nice room with breakfast. The hotel has a small gym, a swimming pool, and a library. The four-story building has an open feel. There are lots of shops around, and the famous Prae Sunday Night Market is just 1 1/2 blocks away.
The buffet breakfast is always stocked with pancakes, bread, cereal, western and Thai cuisines. They also have an espresso machine for your caffeine fix. I usually have breakfast at 8 am and once I return, my room is already made up.
All in all, I had a very good experience with De Charme Hotel and definitely recommend this place.
Hotel incrÃvel! Instalações em ótimas condições, quartos confortáveis e muito limpos. Piscina excelente (pra quem quiser aproveitar e se refrescar no calor da Tailandia). Staff simpático e prestativo.
Great location if you want to be in the heart of Chiang Mai old town.
The room we had was big and quite clean.
The pool is nice, cold, and refreshing.
Breakfast is above average.
If I had to give it a negative is the sound of doors closing as guests come and go is quite loud. Keep in mind it's an old style hotel so sound-proofness needs a bit of update. Otherwise, great value for money.
The good:
-The location is great. Lots to do close by (walking distance) and plenty of restaurants and a 7-11 within a few blocks.
-Room was clean.
-Pool was clean.
The not so good:
-The worst mattress (hardest) we’ve ever had. Even for Thailand, these mattresses are HARD. Awful.
-The bathroom is horribly designed. If you sit on the toilet, you’ll have one foot in the shower and you are likely to get the bathroom wet every time you shower because of how the shower head sits.
-The walls are paper thin and the hotel has a pool/courtyard in the middle and you can hear full conversations of people at the pool while you’re in your room. We had the misfortune of being here when there were several obnoxiously loud groups, including a group that played house music on their Bluetooth speaker at an inappropriately loud volume. Even still, you can hear if someone across the hotel on a different floor leaves their room.
-The staff seem unfriendly compared to other places we’ve stayed in Thailand. At one point We asked for 2 extra pillows and they rolled their eyes and said they didn’t know if they had any. After pleading for even one extra, they managed to find 2 for us but it seemed like a major inconvenience for them.
-Breakfast is bland and not good.
-Pool was surprisingly chilly. I like a cool pool but this would have been cold even for a lap pool. I’m guessing it was around 76°.
I would not stay here again. Not worth the headache.
The hotel is perfectly situated to explore Chiang Mai. The hotel grounds and pool area are fine with very few sunbeds. The rooms are large and clean with, as other reviewers have said, the hardest mattress you are ever likely to encounter. Fortunately there are some duvets in the room that you can put under the sheet to make this a little softer. The bathroom is the most bizarre design I have encountered anywhere in the world. Again as others have mentioned you sit on the toilet with one foot in the shower and, unless you hand hold the shower, it would soak the room. I can’t imagine what the designers were thinking.Breakfast was very basic and bland. By far the worst aspect of this hotel was the detached and disinterested staff. With the exception of one young lady with glasses on reception, the staff were unfriendly and unmotivated. Nobody showed me to my room (and the room numbering is very odd) or helped with luggage. No food is served in the evenings. The overall impression of the hotel was that it was soulless.
Stayed here only 1 night. Good service with nice swimming pool.
Room and breakfast were okay and a value for money. Location is great, right in the middle of the moat of the old city centre of Chiang Mai. Staff is also very helpfull and easy going.
Run away! Avoid this hotel at all costs.
They threw away my belongings before asking. Although I double checked to see if I could leave my stuff and pick it up 5 minutes later when we left our luggage in the room and 2 ladies at the front desk confirmed that I could.
Awful lady at the receptionist. Very very unpleasant and terrible service.
Great central location and a nice pool but the staff were not very friendly and unhelpful. The rooms were a nice size but the bathrooms here so badly designed. The showers had to be held in your hand or the whole bathroom was wet. We had two rooms and this was the case in both. I had to clean the bathroom with towels as it was so wet and then made pay an additional 150 baht so to the stains that were on the towel!!!
