Food was excellent, especially the empanadas.
This was not my first time at the place, Its a beautiful place in an amazing environment, plain nature, an amazing (public) beach with all Colombian Features on 2 min walking distance from the room, with almost no other visitors apart from the hotel guests. The hotel has a lot of woodwork features which makes it feels very integrated with nature. the rooms are spacious and well cleaned, there is a nice creek / river to swim, and a hiking trail with viewpoint up the mountains. (10min walk). Good internet starlink (only at the lobby).
The young waiter (restaurant / hotel admin) was quite in the clouds for meal orders, several times he forgot something that was clearly asked beforehand (eg asked twice for white rice still got sweet coconut rice etc). Several rooms don't have reach of the Wifi network, also there was no signal of the local network providers in our room (Not a big deal if you want to detox from screens but for longer stays its annoying, in particular if you have business to run). Last, warm shower water would be nice (in particular on rainy days), finally we are in 2026 a water heater / boiler should not be hard to install. I could live easily with all the above but asking a +- 120-140 euro per night per room , these are quick fixes to improve the guest experience.
This place is an absolute paradise. I wish I had had more days to enjoy it. The reviews are comprehensive and I agree with a lot of the positive ones. Here are my quick takes:
- The grounds are beautiful. It may initially take some getting used to that you’re in a jungle and there are other creatures around you BUT it’s a magical place - you’re right where the ocean and river meet in the midst of the jungle - what??
- the staff are lovely and for the most part attentive. I was in touch with Juan before who was extraordinarily helpful via WhatsApp. Then met Ivan and Olga who were dearly warm and welcomed me like family. Also really enjoyed the care and hospitality of Ingrid and her team.
- I paid a tad extra (I think?) and managed to get the top room that looks out on the jungle - the layout, the bathroom, the hammocks outside - exquisite
- the watering hole in the river is nice (though a tad rocky to walk to) and the access to the private beach are lovely (though I couldn’t swim given the waves)
- the food, from the breakfast to the meals on the menu, are all very good and fresh - even for vegetarians!
- the dogs are a bit like therapy dogs - very loving and caring
- the mirador is truly amazing - I did my morning yoga and meditation there. Highly recommended
- I was traveling on my own and on the second night, there were almost no guests so I felt a bit isolated (though some staff stayed on), so it may be something to bear in mind if traveling solo
- while attentive for the most part, I had to remind the staff that my toilet had to be fixed a couple of times before it was done
- on both nights, the power stopped for a few hours which meant there was no fan and it can get hot (for those more sensitive to the heat). My sleep was pretty interrupted for that reason but I suspect they’re more careful with the power with larger groups there
Nice landscape, close to. Beautiful beach. The staff is very attentive.
Proximity to the main road could hear truck traffic at night.
