Hill Pride City Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Nuwara Eliya. The hospitality was truly excellent – the staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The food was delicious with a great variety of options. Highly recommend this place for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

We were surprised at the poor rating goven by booking.com for this hotel- the hotel seems to be under new management and the staff could not do enough to make our stay special. Room was comfortable and clean the hillside view out of the window was charming. Evening meals were excellent as was the breakfast. A gem of a hotel for the price we would definitely stay there again.

The towel was torn which should have been discarded ages ago.Toilet cleanliness pretty average and hot water last few minutes before the shower finishes.Room is extremely cramped up and hardly able to walk around the bed.Toilet door is an absolute disaster.Main door lock is almost falling off.The only bright sparkle is the Reception Supervisor’Madushani’.Without her presence in the hotel this hotel will be a total disaster.She is courteous and always helpful and finding solutions and genuinely helpful.

Only a great experience or a terrible experience could get me to go online and leave a review, and this was not a great experience. For those of you who do not wish to read my rant, let me tell you this - only visit this place if you don't mind the subpar service and terrible staff attitude (this place is run like a YMCA hostel. "Hill Pride City Hostel" would be a more appropriate name).

I was going to put this behind me and forget about my less-than-perfect experience because, to be honest, this is a great property! But Madhusha's (the Manager's) attitude at my checkout was the last straw, the cherry on top, so here I am wasting 15 minutes of my time.

Good food, good property, good rooms, and reasonable prices BUT the staff attitude, their rules and regulations, and their unwillingness to be customer-friendly and flexible, are so off-putting and negate all that is good about this property.

Day 1 - On the first day, I discovered that the gates close at 9:30 pm while I was attending a function in Nuwara Eliya. Interestingly, I had not been informed of this regulation during check-in, upon departure after check-in, or even when settling the advance payment. As I mentioned before, the operational style seemed similar to that of a YMCA hostel.

Day 2 - It took a solid hour and a follow-up call to the front desk just to get them to send up a water bottle in the morning. Then, around 1:00 p.m, I decided to order some lunch. I called about five times, but no one picked up. Finally, when I got through at 1:15 pm, they told me that the kitchen had already closed, and I was out of luck for lunch.

I tried again to order more water bottles because the one they sent in the morning was just 500ml. They said ok, but then, radio silence for a whole hour. After a follow-up call to check on the water situation, Madhusha casually mentions that they decided not to send any more water because they sent one bottle in the morning, and apparently, I'd be charged extra. Hey, I'm happy to pay, but how about giving me a heads-up instead of silently deciding not to send water? Communication goes a long way!

Day 3 - Check-Out Experience: They say check-out is at 11:00 am, but I showed up at 11:30 am. Madhusha then tells me there's an extra fee because I'm 30 minutes late. It's not about the small LKR 500 charge (apparently, it's LKR 1000 per hour if you're late). It's more about the idea of punishing guests for being a little late, especially after not-so-great service.

I asked Madhusha if she was the owner, and she first said yes. But when I didn't buy it and asked again, she admitted she was the manager. When I wanted the owner's contact info to give some feedback, she said no. Madhusha, congrats! You just earned your establishment a shiny negative review.

You've missed out on a customer who frequently visits Nuwara Eliya, along with all the potential positive recommendations I could have shared. Hope the 500 Rupees was worth it.

Very basic hotel. Room had no Aircon, fan, or hairdryer and only one towel between two. The bed was damp and not very comfortable. There is no pool, no bar and no recreation or space to sit and relax. It has no lift a d we were on the 3rd floor and had difficulty doing stairs.

The ambience is good and simple. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Especially staff named vignesh and Clinton served very well and very kind . The food feels like home food. Better choice to opt for tourists stay.

The hospitality was very welcoming. I felt like i was at home with the way the staff members treated us. Always smiling staff members and also ready to address any issue regarding our rooms. The food was fresh and readily prepared. It felt like eating food at home. I'm so glad i went to this resort.

Very nice please to stay. Excellent customer care. Tasty food. Location easy access . Sanitary facilities are good. Calm and quite place with beautiful surrounding .

Hill Pride: Super place to spend a calm and quiet holiday with Super friendly staff from reception to restaurant. Great breakfast and great caring service. It was our second stay and we experienced your improvements.

Overall I am quite happy with my stay. Read about the water pressure problem in the reviews and was a little apprehensive at first. Turns out the water pressure was very good, at least in the 2 rooms my and my friend were staying in. Some room for improvement in the administration but I'm sure it will be better the next time I visit the hotel. I'll likely stay again when I come to the area again.

Excellent hotel & staff. Excellent facilities in the rooms. Receptionist Ms. Madhusha is a really good person and her coordination and communication is excellent. Food also very nice. Everything are perfect and attractive.

The hotel is very good, a good location and all the staff are very good, Chandana Nissanka, Indika ,Madushi, all of them work as a team and Indika and Nissanka are very friendly.
The food is so good, really tasty and filling.Indika and Nissanka's food is delicious and they are the best cheff and nice good person.Madushi shi is very friendly and good.Bathrooms in the rooms of the hotel are very clean.Chandan he is doing good job and nice person.other thing who ever little boy I thing room boy he also nice and good boy and hard worker .They do good job and hard work at all I wish them good luck.

We booked and went to this hotel not knowing what the outcome is. But when I was booking the hotel Manager ( Madusha) talk with me through out the booking and very polite and followed up on me till we reach there, on that confidence I predicted this hotel was good. However when we went there it was beyond our expectation. Rooms are inclusive of all necessities and very clean bathrooms with hot water and beautiful. And the chef there was great. Very humble and customer oriented. Food was really tasty. Even we got yummy deserts. Even our children were satisfied. Overall staf was great, helpful polite. Owner is great, can talk and alter any arrangement. I recommend this hotel to anyone. Great rates when travelling with family and friends. Best part is it inside Nuwara Eliya city, so you can go to carnivals and Gregory Lake and park in 10 mnts. So guys check this place 💕

Just outstanding in every way. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast and attention to detail amazing. The room was terrific. Walking distance to Victoria Park and downtown. Just wonderful. We highly recommend this place.

I stay with my family ìn hill pride city hotel.it was great unforgettable day i stayed there. This is the one hotel which I saw in online same as well. Very kindly staff from receptionist to cheff. (Every staff) good hospitality there .very tasty breakfast I had there. Nothing to say bad there.i am giving 100% in everything. I would like to visit again .

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the tea country hills of central Sri Lanka. The naturally landscaped Hakgala Botanical Gardens displays roses and tree ferns, and shelters monkeys and blue magpies. Nearby Seetha Amman Temple, a colorful Hindu shrine, is decorated with religious figures. Densely forested Galway's Land National Park is a sanctuary for endemic and migratory bird species, including bulbuls and flycatchers.

This hotel not central in to Nuwara Eliya .
Although there was no pool and the room was on the small side, this Hotel was outstanding in the service provided and quality of food cooked by the executive chef, Ananth.
The owner, Trev, was keen to make our stay memorable.

We had an excellent two night stay here in search of highland endemic birds in Sri Lanka. The Staff was very welcoming, right from our local chai tea at the beginning all the way to our comfortable check out. The meals were great! It was my wife's birthday and I had bought some cake for her bday and asked them to put it in the fridge overnight. The next morning for breakfast they had rose petals sprayed over the table with the "Happy Bday" text. Very special!!
