Definitely the place to stay in Southampton
Pros:

After only recently discovering the White Star, it is now going to be my go to in Southampton. Lovely rooms, super comfortable bed and tasty breakfast. Highly recommend.

Absolutely first class and one we will remember
Pros:

The property and staff were exceptional. The location was great the food was great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We stayed overnight prior to embarking on a cruise the following day. When we came back from the cruise we had 12 hours to kill before flying home.
The staff from the White Star stored our luggage for us as a favour.
We had a beautiful lunch there and made use of their facilities all afternoon in the sunshine.
The whole experience was amazing.
If you are going to Southampton you must experience this great find

Wonderful stay before our cruise
Pros:

We loved the beautiful, historical restaurant and inn. It was nicely decorated and exceptionally comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was fantastic!

Sehr schön.
Pros:

Personal war sehr höflich und zuvorkommend! Frühstück war sehr gut. Das Zimmer war komfortabel und groß. Aber das Hotel könnte an der einen oder anderen Seite ein wenig Farbe vertragen. Zusammenfassend war unser Aufenthalt sehr schön!

Sehr zu empfehlen, zentral, bester Service
Pros:

Lage ist zentral, aber auch belebt. Die Fenster sind aber dicht, so dass wenig Strassenlärm eindringt.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und äusserst hilfsbereit.

Cons:

Airconditioning ist zwar bei heissen Tagen sehr komfortabel, dass man aber die Fenster nicht mal zum durchlüften öffnen kann, schätzen wir nicht so.

An interesting place to stay.
Pros:

First and foremost the staff were uniformly helpful and friendly. We thought that the breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was also comfortable.

Cons:

On the Sunday night our room suffered a lot of noise from Oxford Street that went quite late into the night. Who knows if that problem extends to the rooms on the other side of the building.

Fab stay in this lovely historic building. Great location, walking distance to many bars/restaurants
Pros:

Lovely room at the top of the historic building in the pedestrian part of Oxford St. The room has air-con and a fan and all that you could need including a mini fridge stocked with water, fresh milk and a beer, all complimentary. Modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower equipped with luxury toiletries. Breakfast was delicious with hot food cooked to order and a buffet with cold selection of fruit, yogurts, cereal etc. All the staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Will visit again when we're in Southampton.

Cons:

Nothing, we liked everything. Bear in mind it is a 200 year old building so there is no lift if you have problems with stairs. It is in the heart of Oxford street where all the bars and restaurants are, good for us but not if you want a quiet Saturday night.

Too noisy, not restful
Pros:

Despite return visits and liking it previously, the local noise is just unbearable now. Bars have pumping music and fights on a Wednesday weekday evening past midnight. It’s got out of control and would stop me visiting again. It’s a shame because everything else is near perfect, the rooms and staff are exceptional.
