All rooms are different and look different from photos provided. I was told that all rooms are different, so that is why photos do not match, so do not expect to get what you see...i was lucky with a better looking room, not so dark. Do not expect a view, as it is an office building of 3 floors, no elevator and you get a view to the walls. It is a great location to bus and subway. Cafe served a good, but a bit overpriced breakfast. In general, if tou are outside the room all day, it is a good, clean a bit outdated place to sleep, but not to bring guests or meeting partners.
It was difficult to find at first . But once i got to it was easy to access to metro stations and site seeing. But the safe was good although everyone speak Russian.
Location is great but, first of all, many things in the room were broken. For instance, the tiles in the bathroom were broken and were wiggling, we could not walk straight in the bathroom. The flush button on the toilet was completely broken and fell off a few times. The cleaning was not good, the room was vacuumed, but the bed was very poorly made up, dirty glasses, cups and cutlery was not replaced, the trash was not taken out every day, the room smelled weirdly as well as in the hallway outside. All in all, we were not very impressed or happy with the hotel's condition and service.
Unfortunately I had to stay longer, I have been given the last room and in the last corner of the building, no elevator and with 4 luggage’s to carry by hand on 3 floors. Nobody helped me, I am young I do not care, but at least the question if I would need an help.... in the room the switches and plugs are missing, I needed to plug laptop and other 2 devices and I needed to make them in 3 different time. Terrible experience
No speak English, old structure and far from pictures, no elevator
Номер не соответствовал фото. (Дали другой номер, гораздо хуже)
Клиентское отношение на нулевом уровне. Не дают счет-фактуру если даже они обязаны дать по условиям бронирования.
Staff don't speak English AT ALL! the place is incredibly difficult to find even for local!! And staff don't help with
Трудно найти отель.
First of all there is no way of getting to the Hotel with car. The construction also cut the walkway from Gasheka street on the second day of our stay. The room smoked although it says it is a nonsmoking room in the booking. The water pipe of the room nearby was broken, water was on the hallway and the humidity filled our room. The room was 2x3 meters, not 15 m square. No space for luggage. You will not fit the bed if you are taller than 1.85 cm. The frontdesk refused to change my room because there was no room of the same class :). Couldn't get rest after 20 hour travel. Better to stay in a hostel and share bathroom than staying in a such place although the prices seem resonable.
The hotel is located in a large indoor complex so it is not easy to find the hotel from the first time. You should contact the reception in order to get exact orders how to find it.
But on other hand it has an advantage - very quiet , the noise from the main street is not heard.
Standard room for 4 (two adults+2 children) a little small when slicing the sofa...
The bathroom is OK (has a Jacuzzi ) and fen.
The hotel has a small dining room for all meals.
Mayak Hotel is a really good deal for the price. It's not the fanciest and it's pretty modest all around, but it is perfect for travellers who want to save some cash but have the convenience of the city center at the same time. The rooms can be a bit on the small side, so if you're carrying huge a bag, it might be a little cramped. The cafe is really cheap and offers homemade Russian food for a very good price. The staff does not speak English, so be warned. One light in our room didn't work, but it wasn't a huge issue for a short stay. The hotel is very quiet at night, despite being in the city center. We stayed in the cheapest/smallest room and even that was fine and decent enough. Probably the larger rooms would offer more comfort if that's really a concern. Overall it's clean and offers just about everything you'd expect from a hotel. I am planning to stay here again next time I am in Moscow.
We we're not given room promised. The tried telling us it was then admitted that room was already taken. They took us to a room unsuitable for most, we complained and ended up in a room with a postage stamp size tv, tiny room, broken bathroom door that did not close, wires running everywhere, bathroom floor that got water when you showered, broken electrical in bathroom, unsafe condition. ORBITZ... you owe me my money back because complaints in Russia do not get people to do the right thing and return my money. If they had I would have gone someplace else. On top of that my free breakfast cost me alot of money. And you will be lucky if a taxi driver can find it. On the good side, it is semi close to the zoo and US embassy.
Our stay was very comfortable and at a very reasonable price. The only draw back was the property was a bit difficult to find at first as it is off the main street on a side street.
Not a 3.5 stars hotel.
The hotel is impossible to find on the google map. The rooms are all very different (and you can be very unlucky). I had to change 3 times: the first room was so small that my suitcase didn't fit. The second didn't have wifi. After insisting, they upgraded me to a better room. This was very complicated because at the reception personnel didn't speak english (we had to communicate with google translator). The rooms smell like smoke. It's very cheap, but not a comfortable hotel. Location is the only great thing.
Renovations on buildings surrounding this hotel mean access is fenced off. It is 800 metres on dark unlit passageways to get to hotel. Taxis had to phone to find it.
The location is good, though it was very hard to find.
The address appears on the street that has no access to the hotel and one has to go around about 300 or more meters to get the place from the Bolshaya Sadovaya street.
You better find the Pekin hotel which is on the block of Bolshaya Sadovaya and 2-ya Brestskaya streets. Once you find it, go down towards the Bolshaya Sadovaya st., second arch is the place where you enter the backyard of the buildings. Then you have to go straight, then turn right and after on the left side you will see the sign of the hotel, but in cyrillic. They don't have even the title of the hotel in English, I suggested to put one, they used some excuse instead considering it.
Also it appeared to me like the hotel staff is forced to work there, cause apparently poor service. E.g. your hands are busy with heavy luggage and they see from the inside you approach the doors and they don't even bother to open it for you. This happened several times.
Overall the hotel was OK, considering the good location.
This is a nice small hotel located in the middle of Moscow, very quiet. Close to Kremlin, metro and theaters. The hotel staff was kind and helpful.
