Everything good
El calor de Hogar, el personal de atencion muy humilde y sobre todo servicial.
This place is currently under renovation and it was empty with no staff and no guess
This self-acclaimed hotel closed a year ago in a totally run-down state. Some four months ago it was bought by a new (US citizen) owner who is trying to rebuild the place. Currently there is one room that looks quite okay, however there is no reception, no personnel apart from a local housekeeper.
The problem starts with the entrance. When we arrived on December 14 around noon, the gate was closed, while there is no name sign nor anything else that indicates the existence of a hotel. It looks like private property from the outside. I tried to cancel the reservation, but that was not possible on the day of arrival. We went to look for an alternative place. The next day, after an unsatisfactory phone call with the owner who maintains the stand that the 'hotel' is functioning normally I decided to investigate the place a little further. US$ 65 was booked off my credit card because of a No-Show. I talked to the housekeeper who allowed me in and showed me around. I have made nice photoshoot of the place so everybody can judge for himself.
Please note the first picture that shows the entrance. If you zoom in on the wall left of the blue gate you can still more or less decipher the painted over sign "hotel Selvazul". The last picture shows you a table full of mice excrements if you zoom in a little.
Location is great, atmosphere is relax and peaceful. I would stay here again as I'm very easy traveller but this place needs lots of improvements and this place would be amazing. The new manager just started as I was there and I can see he is very good and want to improve it, I really hope it works. Staff are very friendly and helpful but restaurant is closed too early (7.30pm), food taking forever to arrive. The beach is great but needs to be cleaner and looked after. My suggestion is hire an interior designer & landscape designer to fix the overall look, I can see the owner has the idea and vision but can't make it into reality. Staff are friendly but need to look professional too (uniform perhaps? and not barefoot). I love this place a lot that's why I want it to improve. Pleaseeee!
We had a wonderful time at this peaceful open concept hotel. If we ever go back to Laguna de Apoyo, which we would absolutely love to, we would stay there again! The volunteer staff were very friendly and informative and the views were spectacular. All rooms are unique and have a super cool vibe to each. We stayed in the Caribbean room and loved the open concept and fresh air flow. Unfortunately the owner drew some inaccurate, and seemingly racist conclusions about our friend. Fortunately that was our only interaction with him and hopefully you won't need to have any.
La verdad no era lo que esperaba, creo que no es mi tipo de Hotel; no había Wifi ni TV en el cuarto, el desayuno lo servían a las 8am.
The hotel is quite far from tourist ammeneties. They served no fruit. The restaurant closed at 7:30 pm and afterwards nothing was open. The rooms are nice but severely outdated and in desparated need of repair. The hotel grounds are dangerous with many tripping and fall hazards. The lighting very poor. Physically challenged people can not stay here. The food was mediocre and breakfast buffet was only 3 items. Eggs , gallo pinto and pankakes. No bacon or fruit. The juice was a sugar loaded imitation. The service was good but the staff are volunteers and do not get any salary. In my opinion it was money poorly spent. Taxis are expensive because you are captive. A trip to Managua was 30.00 To Granada 10.00. One way fares. Many of the photos are photo shopped and do not give a true picture as to the condition of the hotel.
Pros: Location
Cons: More like a hostel than a hotel; too dingy to be Bohemian; photography in the lobby and in the rooms was not suitable for children; restaurant service is extremely slow; wifi only in the main building area.
In a nutshell, most families will want to look for another option on the Laguna (maybe VRBO), but poor college students seemed to be plentiful and happy.
room is not being clean daily, it has only been clean one time on the seven days i stayed and towels too had one time replaced.
Staff was super nice but assured us we had a room for our second night. We left for the day and returned to find that all of our belongings were stuffed in plastic bags and our room was given to someone else. Luckily, there was another, much smaller room available with only a tiny bed and no television. Also, there is absolutely no hot water in any of the rooms. That is a deal-ended for me. To be fair, that info was on hotels.com, but in very fine print; something one would normally not see. The bed sheets in our first room were extremely old and uncomfortable because of the pilling from age. I had to put an airline blanket on top of the sheets, otherwise it felt like lying on sandpaper. Breakfast was great. Probably would not start again or recommend.
Vriendelijke staff. Prachtige omgeving. Zwemmen, zonnen en relaxen.
Kamer is zo iets als "luxe kamperen". Toilet dat maar niet wil doorstromen, koud water douche, tegels van de de muur. Vergane glorie. De sfeer daarentegen vergoedt alles.
Great place! Comfy bed, private terrace with pool a stone's throw from a beautiful crater lake.
The staff is very friendly, the breakfast was good, and with the fresh air and a day of swimming we were in bed before 8 PM and up at dawn (and we are normally night owls!
Definitely not a place for those who like shopping or cities or fancy furnishings, but if you like comfort, being outdoors in a beautiful setting, and don't mind 50 stairs to the lake it is wonderful.
Great place views phenomenal, very clean , the lagoon pristine and very natural, gives u the feeling on jungle , serenity , tranquility and most of all the owner operator very hospitable.
The views are amazing you won't regret.
Love this place
No toiletries at all! Not even soap to wash your hands. Room is disappointingly cheap. The online photos are very deceiving. The pool was disgusting. It was green. Staff is friendly but with VERY poor quality food and appointments I will not be returning there again.
