My friend was flying in from Mexico two days after I checked in they told me since she was not there when I was checking in. They were not able to add her to my room. I was there for a total of four nights. This is very unfair.

La distribución del hotel es incómoda el lobby está en el piso 11, la habitación piso 38, lunch piso 30 cada vez que quería ir a alguna tenía que tomar un ascensor llegar al lobby y cambiar de ascensor. Además el lobby siempre estaba pasado con olor a comida porque tiene un café justo en frente. La habitación cuando llegué habían batas al parecer usadas, al día siguiente había caído una tarjeta de la cama, no que significa que el aseo fue malo, en el baño cuando llegué había un pelo que estuvo 3 días , no repusieron el confort y el sector para buscar hielo, estuvo todos los días con restos de comida botada al rededor.la TV a pesar de ser un país que habla español todos los canales eran en inglés. Dejaron unos macarrones como cortesía el día miércoles, y nunca retiraron el plato

No proper door separating the bathroom from the bedroom! It’s as if there was nothing. It’s really annoying because if someone wants to use the bathroom, the other guest needs to leave the room…
Sound level of the music at the swimming pool in the morning. Although I could use my noise cancelling earbuds, the sound could be quieter so that people can relax.
We stayed at the Hyatt Cartagena for the last leg of our trip to Columbia. The hotel stay was beyond our expectations as the hotel staff were all very patient and responsive even to some of our unusual requests. We will definitely be back here the next time we are in Cartagena!

BEWARE OF UNETHICAL ACTS. We stayed at AirBnB and other hotels during our long stay in Colombia and Hyatt is the ONLY hotel that charged us VAT even though we met every single requirement. Reception showed us a single half page snap shot of Colombia law that benefits their hotels but could not show us or was willing to accept that per other articles and decree’s, foreigners are expempt. I top it off, hotel DID NOT provide a factura electronica de venta of the fraudulent charge. Beware.
We booked the Regency Caribbean Suite, the highest tier room at the property, through Hyatt Prive. The room itself was genuinely impressive, and the finishes looked beautiful in photos and delivered in person. But everything surrounding it was a disaster from arrival to checkout.
We understand that issues happen at hotels. No property is perfect, and we don’t expect perfection. But what we experienced here was something else entirely.
Every single housekeeping request during our four night stay required multiple calls. Not most requests, every one. I called three times over several hours just to get a toothbrush. We called for towels and water that never arrived at all. When I raised this with staff, I was told they were at high occupancy and there was nothing they could do, and when I pushed back, she actually argued with me about it.
The room was never properly cleaned during our entire stay. There was dust everywhere, covering surfaces throughout the suite. Crumbs sat on the living area floor from the moment we arrived and were still there when we checked out because housekeeping never addressed them. Half the towels we received had visible stains on them. One day we called at 9 AM to request cleaning before leaving, and when we returned at 5 PM, staff was actively cleaning the room.
Turndown service was a contradiction: we requested it the first night and it never happened, then were told when we followed up that the hotel doesn’t offer it, then the next day were told they do. We received it exactly two of four nights.
Room service ran 20+ minutes past the quoted delivery time on every order. One night the ice cream arrived completely melted and the food was cold, clearly having sat for a while before anyone brought it up.
We notified staff about every single issue as it happened. No one seemed to care. A manager called mid stay and personally assured me the rest of our visit would be perfect. Nothing changed. I asked for a callback on our final day and never received one.
At checkout, the front desk asked how our stay was, and when we told them directly that we were very dissatisfied and disappointed, they offered no response. No apology, no follow up question, no acknowledgment at all. They simply moved on. It was a fitting end to a stay where we felt like an afterthought the entire time.
We travel frequently to non English speaking countries and have never experienced worse treatment than we did here. We observed other guests throughout our stay receiving substantially better service than we did.
Beautiful room. Everything else failed. If you have any standards or are an English speaking American, avoid this property at all costs.

Es mi segunda casa en Caratgena me gusta todo, siempre atentos a cada detalle desde la recepción hasta los chicos de la piscina que siempre me dan la bienvenida con tanta emoción.
The room was great, just as shown in the pictures. We had a beautiful ocean view, and our room was freshened up daily, which we really appreciated. The restaurant and pool staff were very friendly and always willing to assist us with any request. Fernanda in the Regency Club restaurant was wonderful, she always greeted us with a smile during breakfast and was very kind to our family, thank you, Fernanda. The hotel has a great location, it is safe, and it is very well maintained.
The only reason we are not giving the hotel a 10 rating is because when we checked in at midnight on our arrival date, the staff was not very friendly. Additionally, we were informed that VAT would not be charged if we paid with a foreign credit card and showed passport stamps, which we did. However, once we got to the front desk, the lady who assisted us mentioned that the VAT exemption would only apply if we purchased a tourist package, which must include at least two services such as room accommodations and either breakfast or another service. This was confusing, as we had paid for Regency Club Access, which includes breakfast. I believe both the hotel website and the Booking.com description are misleading and should clearly state the 19% VAT, which is not minor.
Also, as we were getting ready to leave, we noticed that snacks were served daily in the Regency Club, which we were never informed about at check-in, so this was something we unfortunately did not get to enjoy during our week-long stay.
