Hotel Rocca Della Sena

I stayed at this gem of a boutique hotel last September during the Tropea International Film Festival — a week colored with long days, laughter, and late nights — and from the moment I arrived at 2:00 a.m., the team at Hotel Rocca della Sena enveloped me in warmth and grace. Even while helping trace my lost luggage in Rome, they extended the kind of care and calm only true hospitality can offer.

Being half Italian, this experience felt more than comfortable — it felt cinematic, like returning to a familiar family scene filled with sunlight, sea breeze, and heartfelt conversation. The hotel rests quietly above the cliffs, overlooking the luminous Spiaggia del Convento, where dawn and dusk unfold like perfectly timed sequences of color and stillness.

Each member of the team was genuine, attentive, and infused every interaction with gentle elegance and care. My room carried the essence of Calabria — refined, serene, touched with local artistry — and each morning’s 5-star level breakfast could have been the opening frame of a film on authentic Italian life: fresh, generous, and full of soul.

I left with lasting gratitude and a promise to return — because some places, and some people, remind you that hospitality at its finest is not service, but storytelling and art from the heart.

We wre running late for our arrival and did so after dark...which on Italian roads can be a scary thing for sure! When we arrived the staff was very welcoming and recognized we were a little rattled and poured us all a glass of wine and we just chatted for a bit to relax....and they were closing for the season the next day! The rooms were great and having the balcony doors open all night to here the waves and the breezes was sort of the best way to go to sleep. Breakfast was great, staff really went out of their way to allow us to do our laundry at the marina and come back to repack for the next phase of the trip...all while they were trying to do season close down! They were just wonderful folks and we would totally stay here again if we ever make it back to Tropea.

Personal war sehr hilfreich, zumal wir ein Problem mit unserem Auto hatten. Es wurde auch das Leihauto beim zurückbringen angenommen, da die Leihfirma Mittagspause hatte. War sehr hilfreich, da wir ja noch weiter nach Sizilien gefahren sind

Location was brilliant best quality hotel in tropea with great service especially for birthdays 🎂

The hotel is intimate and comfortable with stunning views of the ocean. We also had a beautiful walk out balcony overlooking the same view. The staff were the best part - in particular a lady named Georgia who made us feel so welcome the second we got there. We still talk about her. We had the best time at this resort!

Fantastic property in every respect! Perched within incomparably excellent view of the beach and the coast. From my room's balcony and from the hotel terrace, you can see the ocean, Stromboli, truly amazing. It offers access down a long stairway to a fantastic beach club with swimming, activities, chairs, umbrellas, a restaurant - perfect location. Easy ~6 minute walking to the scenic old part of the town with restaurants, bars, historical attractions. The rooms were very comfortable and actually quite spacious for Italy. The staff was incredibly helpful and the service was outstanding. I would very much plan to stay here again, highly recommend it!!

Great place to stay in Tropea— close to restaurants and major historic attractions. The hotel booked our dinners and a wine tasting. No difficulties at all. Francesco was a wonderful bar tender and the person who greater us at the front desk who handled our bookings (Jackie?) was outstanding.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location…10-15 minute walk to the old town with restaurants and shops. The ocean views are wonderful with chairs all Ali g side in order to enjoy it. The ocean is reachable by a staircase…lots of stairs but I felt safe using them. Our room was large, beds and pillows were comfy. The room was cleaned every day. Breakfast which was included was delicious with lots of variety. The staff were all very friendly. Francesco is the bartender and was always there when we wanted a drink and snacks. He made great Mai Tais. There is a small pool…about twice the size of a hot tub. This little pool came in handy for me when I reached the top of the stairs from the beach…very refreshing. Beautiful outdoor lounges and table and chairs. My one complaint would be their hair dryers…just a nozzle really with hot air. Other than that, I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Very disappointed - not as represented on site. Room had a smell. Hotel is dated and areas were not clean. Staff tried but manager seemed like everything was too much for her to handle and she complained to guests.

What is there not to like about the property. The view, the location and most of the customer service. They could not do enough for you in this boutique hotel.
