This is a charming boutique hotel in the perfect location! You walk right out of it onto the pedestrian part of Laugavegur Street. It’s a fun street to walk, shop, and enjoy many restaurants.
Our room was lovely and the staff at the front desk were welcoming and very helpful and gave us terrific recommendations for restaurants and other activities.

We loved our stay at the Sand Hotel. The location is fantastic if you want to be within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, key things to see, and the waterfront. The room was stylish, clean, and comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of shelf space and a very good shower. The breakfast buffet was very good, but with the excellent Sandholt Bakery right next door, you have a great alternative steps away. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and unobtrusive. The blackout curtains in the room worked very well, but truthfully, we had very little sun during our stay. We were a bit surprised that we had to pay a fee to have access to our room a few hours before official check in time, even though we were told the room was ready. We understand that this is the policy, but just want others to know as you may also be arriving directly from the airport after an overnight flight and want to freshen up before heading out to explore. Overall, the Sand Hotel is excellent and we would definitely stay there on a return visit to Reykjavik.

Very clean with a friendly staff who helped make my stay a worthwhile experience.

The location was perfect right on the street with all the shopping in Reykjavik. The room was pretty small, the bed making up the whole space basically but the bed was so comfortable I didn't care. The bathroom was also really nicely designed. The staff was so nice and helpful. They stored our luggage for a few hours on our final day so we could explore some more.

Delightful Reykjavik stay!
We so enjoyed our time at the Sand Hotel. The downtown location was ideal for exploring the city, the staff was very accommodating and helpful and the included breakfast buffet gave us a good start to the day.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a 2 stop stay in Iceland.
Overall really good and totally central to everything we needed. The staff were really helpful and welcoming and allowed us to check in at 10am as the room was ready so we had our room for longer at no extra charge.
We stayed in the Sand Suite so were really pleased to have a lot of space.
There is a lounge/diner, a good sized bedroom and en-suite plus another toilet off the lounge.
Fridge to use as we needed it and they included a bottle of Prosecco, 2 small red, small white wines and 2 beers.
Bed very comfy with some roll together.
The breakfast was continental and very adequate. No hot food.
There is no restaurant as such so the breakfast area closes at 10am with access to order a drink from the bar from 12-10pm (happy hour 4-7pm)
Small gym downstairs is a bit pokey but does the job.
Overall a very good stay for a visit to Reykjavik.

Very happy to have stayed at the Sand Hotel. The location was perfect for walking around the city, the staff was friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast was lovely and the room was comfortable. Would stay there again.

Everything was great and the staff is amazing. Everyone was extremely helpful and happy to answer any questions we had. We even got great recommendations.

It is a lovely hotel in the very centre of Reykjavik, close to everywhere. Nice ambiance, really great people and overall great place. Also there is a fantastic bakery under the same name next door, food is really fantastic and the breads are so delicious. Thank you Sandhotel!

The Sand provided a very comfortable room though a little on the small side, but had a very comfortable bed. It is in a great location right on the main pedestrian street. The breakfast was very good. Lack of parking did present a bit of an issue but we did find parking nearby. The staff were great!
