Presentation is lovely. The overall look when you first arrive is quite breathtaking. Our accomodation was spot on.
We were only there one night so did not really get to experience it all but we had no complaints about the property itself.
Beautiful food, lovely location, friendly staff, appartment great for an overnight stay
Wish we could have stayed longer!
The gardens and restaurant were really nice, the apartment room was spacious and kitchen had all the amenities required for our stay
The wooden floor was all worn and lifted in places which were a bit of a trip hazard especially where lifted from the kitchen leading into the bathroom. Delivery drivers arrived around 5am (2 men) and shouting very loud while unloading their van and traping trollers back and forth outside of our room… bathroom sink would not drain so we had to empty it using a jug.
Great breakfast. Really lovely staff.
Basement apartment a little odd. Huge room with kitchen and desk. The entrance way down to it however smelt damp and foisty. There was boxes and stores down there.
The building, setting and grounds look beautiful
For a 'luxury' hotel the room there was little attention to the guest experience. Our room was a "premium" room with a big sitting room - but since there was no door between it and the bedroom it could not be used independently of it. The bedroom was cramped while the spacious sitting room did not have a desk even though there is plenty of space for one. In the tiny shower room, there was nowhere to hang a towel and nowhere in the shower apart from the floor to put shampoo etc. The whole room needs a redesign.
Included breakfast is one item chosen from a menu - so if you want granola AND toast, you are told to pay extra for the toast even though granola is the same price as a full English. And both days we waited more than 30 minutes for the ordered dish to arrive even though we had booked a time for breakfast. The restaurant was closed on the Sunday evening of a bank holiday weekend.
The room was serviced but coffee etc not resupplied and the bin not emptied. Finally, we were billed for breakfast even though it was included in the room rate, though this was promptly refunded when we realised we had been overcharged.
Lovely building set in nice gardens with ample parking.
We were allocated a basement apartment as we had a dog… there were no windows to open, it was like being in a morgue and as we later found out that the building was once a hospital we were probably in the d morgue. Too late to leave on our first night we left the next day having booked somewhere else… Terrible & disappointing experience. The next days staff were more helpful than the young lady the night before but it was too late… we were already booked elsewhere. They gave a discount but too little for the inconvenience really and sad that our looked forward to holiday was totally spoilt.
Staff, grounds and restaurant were amazing
The staff are all really friendly!
Location and setting. Convenient for an event we were attending. Decor in the bars and shared areas.
The room decoration was plain (grey) and rather tired, especially the bathrooms. In one room we had problems getting the right temperature in the shower.
Had to wait ages for breakfast because poor staff member rushing around and a “private event” clearly also understaffed.
The grounds were beautifully, room very clean, restaurant well decorated, the food was excellent and all staff we encountered were extremely friendly
Nothing
Lovely room. Lovely grounds to walk in. Convenient for Southampton
You get the impression that it is in the middle of no where but it has obviously sold off land and is now surrounded by modern houses
Excellent menu
Friendly staff
Very good value for money
Feather pillows on the bed not comfortable could do with some spares so they can be swapped.
Room was functional but not cosy.
No desk to work at
Location and friendly staff
Beautiful old house full of history
I like everything
