A lovely hotel with great attention to detail. A really warm welcome on arrival with personalised Hershey bars and drinks. Spacious rooms with all amenities and a tranquil pool. Very modern in design and very quiet during our stay but with very friendly staff. The Michelin starred restaurant was excellent and the hotel is well situated to explore Chang mai. Would recommend

There was nowhere comfortable to sit in the room—which made it difficult to relax

Breakfast was disappointing

Housekeeping did not clean the room until after 3 PM, which was inconvenient

The balcony sofa had a noticeable dirty stain, which made it unusable and unhygienic.

We, a family of three adults, stayed at Cross Riverside for four nights in May/June 25. Located on the banks of Mae Ping River the hotel (rather a resort) is an excellent choice if you want to have peaceful stay amidst nature. Yet it's just 10 mins ride to the old city attractions.

Built around vast beautiful grounds with several 100+ years old trees, the place is heavenly. Most rooms are river facing and comfortable with unique art deco design and large spacious balcony. Its wonderful to have an early morning coffee at the balcony while listening to the chirping of birds or walk on the large green lawns towards the river bed.

The restaurant serves Thai-French menu and the quality is excellent. However the menu for the room service is very limited.

The staff at the hotel are all warm and very friendly.

The owner seems to be an avid collector of vintage cars as we could see two vintage cars on display at the premises and we were told he owns several vintage cars.
Overall its one of the best resort hotels in Chiang Mai.

There are plenty of rooms to choose from. The luxurious resort in Chiang Mai has the finest dining room with chefs. There are activities to relax and row in the Ping River. Who is there in the massage room next to the Ping River? If you're interested, you can get a special massage here. I'd like to recommend it.

We've got what we want for our Chiang Mai trip here. Cross Chiang Mai is located right on the Ping's river where you can enjoy the gold sunset time here.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and Fine Dining Dinner were amazing (We chose Degustation Menu with Chef Jame and we did enjoy them.).

All staff service were beyond our expectations. If you guys love to stay in peaceful and nice hotel in CNX. Here is perfect.

The hotel is located just on the other side of the bridge in a quiet environment full of greenery, about thirty minutes walk from the old town. A warm welcome, impeccable service, immaculate cleanliness and tasty, diverse cuisine. The Cross Chiang May is also the starting point for daily attractions. The rooms are spacious and quiet and the rooftop swimming pool is very pleasant through the trees.

My fiancée and I stayed in Thailand for 2 weeks at 6 different hotels and this hotel was our favourite.

Best bits:

- The staff incredible - they were all so friendly and polite without being at all being overbearing. Genuinely the nicest/best/most professional staff at a hotel we've ever stayed at
- The room we stayed in was great - we went for the Garden View Suite (which I think is the starting tier room) and it was absolutely lovely. Massive bathroom, nice balcony with a view of the gardens.
- Breakfast - so much on the menu to order, all delicious
- The pool is stunning - great views of the sunset over the river. It was usually really quiet as well. We always managed to get one of the double sun beds.
- Prices of drinks, room service, minibar etc were all super reasonable (Happy hour by the pool was basically all afternoon into early evening, and 2 cocktails cost about £6-8 I think).
- We booked direct (which was the cheapest rate I found) which also meant we got an afternoon tea at the restaurant which was super nice.
- We enquired about a private driver at about 9pm for the next day, and the hotel got back to us within 5 minutes with a price, confirming pickup could be at whatever time we wanted. The rate was less than I'd seen on getyourguide/viagogo as well. The driver spoke good english and drove us up to Doi Inthanon with plenty of stops around

Worth noting - it's about a 20-30 minute walk to the night markets etc. We walked the first night, but it's not a particularly nice walk. We just got Grabs after the first night - it took about 5-10 minutes and cost about £2.00 - £2.50 to get into town/night markets.

Would 100% recommend, and would 100% stay here again.

WiFi: ⭐⭐ (Difficult to log on, only worked in the lobby. The front desk staff kindly connected me to the office network.)

Overall, I would rate this hotel as a 3-star experience at best.

We booked three rooms (403, 404, and 405) and stayed in Room 403 with a 4-year-old child. The hotel provided a rollaway bed for a reasonable additional cost. The rooms were fairly clean, and turn-down service was excellent. However, the rooms felt somewhat worn, particularly in the bathroom, and the walls were very thin, making it easy to hear noise from neighboring rooms. I highly recommend packing earplugs.

Major Issue: Strong Sewage Smell

Our biggest concern arose on the first night when we turned off the fan and woke up in the middle of the night to a strong sewage odor. Initially, I assumed this was a common issue in hotels, but our other two rooms did not have this problem. I reported it to the front desk the next morning, and they assured me they would look into it while we were out for the day. Upon returning, the smell had improved slightly but was still noticeable.

That evening, however, the odor became significantly worse. We informed the front desk again the following morning. They checked with the manager and offered to switch rooms, but since we only had one night left, we opted to stay. Moving with a young child is not easy.

Would I Return?

Personally, I would not stay here again. Given the price we paid, there are better options in Chiang Mai that offer a more comfortable experience.

Highlight: The Restaurant

The on-site restaurant was a standout. We enjoyed the daily breakfast (included with our stay), afternoon tea, and room service. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. If you’re looking for a high-end dining experience, I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

While the staff was kind and accommodating, the sewage issue, thin walls, and worn-out rooms made for a less-than-ideal stay.

The overall tranquillity and well-kept nature of the resort is amazing. The location is great, along the river, and our rooms were quiet. We had 2 rooms which were both quite dark and compact, with big bathrooms and a beautiful outdoor terrace.
Unfortunately both rooms had a bad smell the whole 3 days we stayed, bathroom drainage or air conditioning maybe. There was a dehumidifier in the room, as well as many pots of damp rid scattered around the room, but neither of these things helped.
The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful, able to understand our requests. Shuttle to the night markets was helpful.
We had an amazing breakfast every morning, the buffet options and menu items are extensive with something for everyone. As part of our package we enjoyed a high tea which was delicious and beautifully presented.
The rooftop pool is lovely, and gym well equipped. Both were not busy while we were there.

Cross at Chiang Mai was a nice stay. I was in the pool suite. The good things: incredible breakfast and really excellent reception. Both my check-in and check-out were nice experiences. The staff is amazing. From the cleaners to the front desk boys to the restaurant, everyone was very nice and if they couldn’t understand English they would find me someone who did. The mini bar selection is very good and extensive. The bathroom is very large and loved the tub. The private pool was amazing. Turn down service is a really nice touch and in general the housekeeping every day was excellent in my suite. I enjoyed inviting friends over for afternoon tea and sitting outside overlooking the river. Extremely private and quiet accommodation which is exactly what I wanted.

The restaurant is very good and their Michelin meals are worth the cost & accolades. I loved the scallops.

However, here’s the slightly less positive (all small details, but worth mentioning considering the $$$$ price tag to stay here). The rooftop pool is nice but the bar up there is filthy. The glasses sitting outside have a green hue and it’s also very messy. Really stood out because the rest of the hotel resort is so nice and cleans. It’s like no one has cleaned the upstairs bar in six months, plus there is no staff upstairs, no music, etc. I think they should consider closing the bar or at minimum cleaning it extensively.

The steam room for women is very small and basic. Also there is no sauna (steam and sauna are two different things). The steam room also didn’t work when I tried the first time but a staff member fixed it for me quickly :). The gym is also very small, but that’s not a problem since there’s not many guests.

The other thing missing here is ambience. There is a coldness to the resort and it often felt like I was the only guest there. Many shared places, restaurant and bars were mostly empty, which is very noticeable when you’re traveling solo.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay and getting some peace! However, if you’re looking for a bustling atmosphere or a more social resort experience this is not going to be the place. I think this place is probably better for couples or weddings where you bring your friend group with you, not necessarily for being solo.

The main downside is that the traffic outside prevents walking into the old city or night market. This is a major disadvantage. Also many of the day trips outside the city will not pickup at the hotel.
The staff of the hotel were wonderful

We cannot rave enough about this stunning hotel even after we left. It is one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve stayed in. From the design to the A-grade service, to the quiet surroundings along the Ping river, this place warrants returns. Every nook and corner embraces nature and her lush greens with abundant sunlight. You can easily feel you’re in a world of your own at Cross Riverside. Breakfast was good with a succinct buffet spread and ala carte menu. Really happy such a place exists!

In the amenities of the bathroom, the hotel define itself as “design, luxury and style”. Yes, it has an impressive design and style, with an architect project really interesting… but luxury is something that it really doesn’t have it. First, the room, I really had to believe in the bad reviews that I read before the vacation: really small (and we didn’t book the basic one, but in fact the deluxe), darkness (even with all the lights turned on) and with a vibe very cold. The room is really strange… even during the day, the room is too much dark and is not pleasant to stay in it. By the way, what a rocky bed; to sleep on it was really a challenge, which provide me 3 bad nights of sleep. The food and restaurant: again, the concept of “design, luxury and style”, since the place is beautiful, but with a poor lack of food, nothing really delicious and with most part of the staff not speaking English, what took difficult to order sometimes. The hotel itself is, as registered, a building with design and style.. even in the restaurant, where they use some kitchen utensils very stylish, the food is really disappointed. So, if you what to have some great pictures of your vacation, and don’t care of the quality of sleep and room, this is the place. By the way, at least we had one nice memory from the hotel: Moth, a really attention and kindness staff member from reception, which tried a lot to make our stay more special.
