I travel a lot and I often stay in what might be considered budget hotels but this was effectively a dormitory. There is no sign indicating where the entrance is to the hotel, which is inside a courtyard, or where reception is, which is through an unmarked door and up one flight of stairs. The staff do not speak English, just Chinese, except for one Ugandan man on the staff. This would be fine if it were noted in the hotel description.
My room was up another two flights of stairs that were strewn with trash and cigarette butts. Though I booked a non-smoking room, stale smoke reeked from the room and every room had an ashtray. In addition, there seemed to be a party with very loud karaoke going on one floor down with music so loud, it was vibrating in my room. I hadn't checked in until quite late and when I asked how long the music would go, he said 1 more hour (midnight). It didn't stop until at least 2 am but then the traffic noise from outside started up. The bed had the cheapest, hardest mattress that I've ever tried to sleep on (and not in the good futon kind of way). Needless to say, I did not get a good night's sleep ahead of my meetings the next day. Lastly, the bathroom had not been cleaned and even had the dirty comb from the last occupant on the sink. Sections of the walls had peeled away and there were signs of mold.
I was booked to stay for two nights but left after one. Would not recommend to anyone.
