Great location on the edge of Kosmas village, near walking trails.
The owners, Iota and Christos were amazing. They were accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. The food was so fresh and homemade.
The room was very nice and large. Beautiful balcony overlooking the mountains and valley. Peaceful, calm and clean. The little town was great. The people were very friendly and the food was delicious! We will definitely be back!!!! Thank you Iota for making our stay extraordinary!
Marvellous place a real paradise in the middle of beautiful Greek mountains. The managers are extremely nice and kind people with a marked attitude to welcome.
The Ouranogiton was wonderful. The owner was very helpful. She was a delightful person and a great hostess. The hotel was in easy walking distance of the charming village square. We will definitely stay there again.
We had the pleasure of staying in this guesthouse for three nights. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a bathroom with bath and shower, a fridge, a balcony with a table and two chairs that also afforded a stunning view of the mountains beyond. Breakfast was excellent and makes for a good start to the day. The hosts, Panagiota and her husband, are lovely people who will help in making suggestions for walks if required. The location is just a 5 minute walk from the village centre and the tavernas for your evening meal. Another positive we enjoyed was the nighttime silence for that peaceful sleep.
Property was well kept and the staff was very friendly
If you love crisp mountain air each morning and stunning views, this is a great choice. We knew the rest of the country was hot, but it wasn't up here. The guesthouse is a two-minute walk down the road to the charming town of Kosmas where you can find good food and more beautiful views. From the guesthouse, there are multiple walking trails which the owner will happily tell you about. We were here early in the season, so only one other group was here but we never heard them. Our room was large and comfortable. We were given a choice of the room I had booked or the larger room at the same cost, so we took the larger room which had two balconies, although only one chair on each balcony, but you can move the chair, a fire place, an extra bed made to look like a couch, and good lighting. We weren't sure if there was air conditioning but that is not an issue in the mountains. Our hosts were very friendly, and the woman greeted us each morning for a made-to-order breakfast. One morning we had yogurt and honey, which is probably from the one of the many hives in the area, and another we had omelets. Assorted breads and unlimited coffee accompanied the meal. The dining room and the main room are charming, and we could see ourselves sinking into the leather sofas watching a roaring fire in winter. At night, we slept beautifully as the bed was comfortable and wooden shutters pulled tight over soundproof windows. Such a delight! We learned that the couple running the guesthouse took over in October of 2021 and are busily repairing the place, so don't be put off by the weeds in the parking area. Instead, sit on one of the terraces outside and enjoy the view and your luck in finding such a place. This is a wonderful place to stay.
Perfect place for a cozy stay with family or for a couple. The facilities were impeccable (the fireplace in our room was a big hit) and the host Giota and her family were incredibly friendly and helpful (Giota helped us get our cars out of a potentially difficult space before the snow hit as otherwise we would have been blocked). We visited during the winter with snow so even if we could not go out all the time spending time in the main salon area with the big fireplace and other guests was special. Perfect family-friendly place and our little one felt we were in our own home as we could freely move around the guest house. The breakfast was lovely! At 3.5 hours from Athens this is a great weekend destination in all seasons. Recommended.
Our experience:
We booked the room back in March and wanted to stay in early November 2019.
Meanwhile the owner changed and our booking website informed neither us nor the new owner.
But instead of sending us away, we received a very warm welcome.
Panagiota (the owner of the place) was very friendly and took care of everything.
E.g. she stayed in the guesthouse for a very long time in the evening to make sure that the heating was working.
Additional to that we had a very delicious vegetarian breakfast.
What to do, when booking this accomodation?
We booked it as we wanted to explore not just Sparta, but also the surrounding.
At new moon stargazing is possible here, as you are in the mountains.
The guesthouse is part of a beautiful little village in the mountains thats definetely worth beeing seen.
When to book this accomodation?
I asked Panagiota and she said it is possible all year long.
There is a seperate heating in winter for each room.
Before coming to this place next time, she suggested to call her once before.
A very cozy hotel, excellent location, very comfortable, a very sympathetic hostess, great traditional breakfast: the perfect option for autumn! Being told that it is great for all seasons , especially for snowy winter period : looking forward to visiting it again....
It's a nice building close to the centre of the lovely Kosmas.
The village is well worth a stay and a sensible distance from Athens for a days travel.
It's clean and the breakfast was fine.
The rooms were nice.
On the downside the owners need to be a bit more professional about the whole set up.
When we arrived the family/owners were sat in the reception area smoking. A bad first impression.
We went out for dinner and when we came back they were all watching a movie in the lounge area so again we felt we couldn't use it to have a drink or chat so we went to our rooms.
It was very windy at night and there was something swinging and banging, but no one went to fix it so we were awake from the early hours.
I think this hotel would be successful if the owners treated it more as a business. At the moment it feels like you are intruding into their home.
Excellent location if you like mountains and cold weather even in summer!! Very nice people and very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was Ok, although I would prefer more variety. Will visit again sometime!!
Oranogeiton is a brand new hotel on the Parnon mountain of the Peloponnese, in the village of Kosmas (over Leonidio). The village itself is picturesque and pleasant, with a traditional square with a church and enormous ancient plane trees. The hotel is a short walk from this central square. It faces the mountain on both sides, which makes for nice views, absolute calm and great starry nights! The decoration is nice and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped (good quality bed and pillows, beautiful towels, TV, small fridge) and there is a fireplace for the winter. The breakfast was REALLY good! Fresh village bread, good jams, omelet, fresh orange juice and their own specialty, a sort of fried bread with cheese. The price for all this was really decent AND the owners were very very kind and pleasant.
i think that is the one of the most beautifull hotels that ever staid. Every detail is something amzing. Kostas and Maria are the most hospitable persons that i have ever meet, in all of my travels. The only thing that you heard there are the birds. The breakfast is homemade and rich. Sure that we will return back many times.
