This was our best accommodation experience during our week in Iceland. We hadn't booked accommodation for our last night and decided to extend at Umi because we loved it so much. The staff were all so warm and welcoming from the manager to the housekeeping team, reception, and the restaurant - and they didn't make me feel bad for breaking a wine glass in our room. Great location for exploring. We especially loved the big breakfast spread, cozy robes and slippers, and we had some fantastic Northern Lights viewings right outside of the hotel. Definitely make it out to the black sand beach while you're there! Thank you Umi team for being a highlight of our honeymoon, we hope to return!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, during which we got engaged. The staff was so lovely, from the front desk keeping champagne cold in our room for our return by changing the ice every half hour, to another staff member point out the Northern Lights, to the head chef presenting us with each dish at the restaurant and his lovely wife, a waitress, sharing stories about Icelandic life with us. The setting is beyond beautiful, and we had horse visitors snuffling at our open window one night. We will never forget how we felt in this magical place.

From the beautiful architecture, furnishings, lovely staff, Michelin star restaurant, and setting this hotel had everything we wanted. The hotel was within 15 min of Reynisfjara Beach, Vik and Black Sands Beach. Skógafoss was also within driving distance. Their Michelin star restaurant did not disappoint, we enjoyed every bite. They have their beach that we didn’t get to enjoy but will be back!

We had an excellent three night stay with the Umi Hotel. The food was amazing, the rooms were lovely warm and the free access to the yoga room and Sauna were a plus! The views of the mountains were stunning and the location is so close to many tourist locations. We will be back again!

The hotel is lovely, very modern and relaxing. Amazing food quality and surroundings — beach and mountains.

Nothing but positivity all around! From the staff to the entire facility to the restaurant to the view, Umi was all that we could’ve asked for on our first trip to Iceland! And, give that Polish guy behind the desk a raise; I forget his name yet he was super friendly and enjoyable to chat with!

I had the best stay at Umi Hotel. The staff was simply amazing. They were so kind and accommodating. The hotel has everything you need: excellent restaurant, well appointed bar area, very comfortable rooms, spa and beautiful views. I highly recommend this property.

Lovely hotel with amazing location and restaurant however slightly annoyed the path to the beach was recommended by front desk on arrival (and the path was waterlogged). No phone call for the northern lights wake up call as requested (then they post about it on their social media).

Great stay at the Uni hotel. Super friendly and informative staff. We had dinner at the hotel, as it’s quite removed from a ‘town’ (as many other hotels in Iceland are!) and the food was so amazing (Michelin star quality and presentation). Beautiful location with gorgeous view of mountains and glacier. Very quiet.

Great location, very peaceful. Wonderful and friendly staff. We had the best meal (dinner and the breakfast buffet) here. I felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant for dinner; it was so lovely.

The hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Sauna was great with view of the field. Amenities were excellent, we ended up buying some Soley products at the airport same as what we had at Umi. Breakfast has good selection. In the morning, as a bonus, horses visited us outside our room window, they were very beautiful. Check out was at 11 but reception lady let us check out at 12. Location is perfect as near all the tourist spots we wanted to experience. Will definitely recommend. Thank you Umi!

This hotel is perfect. Immaculately clean with the most kind and helpful staff. Unlike most other hotel restaurants - especially those that you have to eat at, for lack of other nearby choices - this was, hands down, the most fabulous meal we’ve ever eaten. Unforgettable! the attention to detail of each item on the plate was extraordinaryl Yes, Iceland expensive, but a treat for the senses that shouldn’t be missed. We had the lamb and the artic char.

We absolutely loved our stay at Umi Hotel. It was quaint, and such nice rooms even though they may be small. We loved it. Comfortable bed, and robes and slippers. The breakfast was excellent and the 2 dinners we had were excellent as well! We particularly enjoyed the horses coming up to our window to visit. Also the trail to the beach was a fantastic walk in the brisk cold air. We would love to come back someday and visit if we are ever in Iceland again. Thank you so much!

We stayed one lovely night at the Umi Hotel. My initial impression was that the hotel was boxy and unimpressive but the excellent service, serene design and fantastic restaurant quickly changed that impression. Located in a large plain, there are amazing views of the adjacent mountains. They will notify you of northern lights appearance if requested. We enjoyed the sauna. Highly recommend the hotel and would stay return if we visit the area again.

Great stay

Great spot, top notch. Views were amazing and walk to the black sand beach area easy and straight forward. There was a list to be awakened if Northern Lights showed (which they did) and really appreciated that option.
