The Golden Crown is a stunning hotel nestled in the hills above Lake Kandy. The room and facilities were excellent, but the highlight for me was the exceptional breakfast and dinner buffets. I was well looked after by a fantastic team led by Mihirini Shanali (front office), and including my wonderful driver Chamila Ranawaka
Everything was perfect!
Bardzo przyjazny i pomocny personel. Po małym wypadku z nasz córka na basenie, cały personel zaangażował się w pomoc, włącznie z kierowca, który asystował przy wizycie w przychodni. Szczególnie doceniamy opiekę Chaturiki, dziękujemy za przyjazne nastawienie i zainteresowanie dziećmi. Poza tym hotel pięknie położony, mimo że około 5-10 min samochodem od centrum Kandy, oraz bardzo dobre jedzenie. Wystrój hotelu nawiązuje do lokalnych tradycji jak również zawiera elementy nowoczesności.
The hospitality of staff is second to none, the room we had was very spacious, we had a wonderful and knowledgeable tour driver Wasantha who took us to many sites in around Kandy. The infinity pool and bar area are really excellent and the dinner buffet is good value.
Some parts of the hotel could do with modernization.
Staff were so welcomed .We loved the room . Room was so spacious. They had allocated client service staff ( Ms Mihirini) and she was so helpful and always checked on us. She gave her WhatsApp number and it was so useful and everything were message away. Communication via WhatsApp made our stay very easy and hassle free .Specially for families this kind of personal service means a lot. Also they have a play area for kids and adults. Our kids loved the play time. This was another plus for the hotel. Food was awesome .We had a wonderful stay and planning to come back for sure. Highly recommend.
Shower could have bit bigger as it was little hard for kids to have shower compared to room size. (Not a negative point but something to consider in future)
The staff were great, they went the extra mile especially when they found out it was or honeymoon
The spa facilities could be improved

Luxurious Hotel in Kandy, nice welcome drummers. Variety of the food is great. Guest relation has a great style of communication. Large size of room and even bigger bathroom. Good location. Amazing nice view from the outdoor pool.

Luxury place
The staff really went above and beyond to compensate for the hotel's downsides. We received a free upgrade to a significantly better room in the renovated part of the hotel. Moreover, they treated us to a surprise afternoon tea with light bites right by the infinity pool. Overall, despite the issues with the facilities, we are extremely satisfied with the level of service we received.
The hotel doesn't quite live up to its 5-star rating. There is an older, unrenovated section where the overall appearance and furniture are quite worn out. They haven't put much thought into guest entertainment—there are a few table tennis tables, but the paddles and balls are in terrible condition, and the pool table doesn't even have chalk. We tried the massages but were not satisfied. Furthermore, there is nothing interesting around the hotel: no sights, no places for a walk, and no shopping. We constantly had to rely on taxis, which were both expensive and never arrived on time. Another very frustrating issue was the pricing. Even though we booked half a year in advance, we found out that making a last-minute booking on the same day or directly at the hotel is actually cheaper. This pricing policy feels completely illogical and unfair to early bookers.
This was a fantastic hotel, one of the best we've stayed in. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were friendly and helpful during our stay. The room was spacious & clean and the view from the balcony over the rice fields and valley was amazing. There were 2 outdoor pools and the main infinity pool again had fantastic views. The buffet dinner had lots of choice and the food & drinks were reasonably priced. Overall a really good stay and highly recommend.

We out some laundry but one shirt came back with a different color but the front desk dealt with the issue perfectly !! Bravo
