I used to live in Bogota 14 years ago and the nearby village La Calera and its green mountains are one of my unforgettable favorite places. I had a few days of Chinese New Year holidays last week and I decided to take a short vacation in Colombia to spend some time with my best friend Sandy and to visit some old friends.
I found Villa del Mojan on Booking.com after decided to stay the first 2nights in La Calera instead of Bogota. It took us a pretty long drive from Bogota to La Calera, but the owner Luis and Miriam were so helpful with the detailed guided maps in PDF and instructions, we got to the place without problem. It was such a pleasant surprise when the house appeared up on the hill that we forgot the driving at all.
The surrounding mountain views of the house are so amazing that there is no word to describe its beauty of nature. The owner Mrs. Miriam is such an artist that she built this place with her unique taste and full of love. It feels like home, not a hotel.
During the two days, we hiked up to the hills and saw the most amazing views that you can’t find anywhere else. Miriam prepared a wonderful typical Colombian lunch for us. At night, my friend Sandy and I walked down to the river and sat there for an hourly girls’ chat, with a bottle of hot wine that Miriam prepared for us.
