Grand Hotel Huánuco

I have been staying here on and off since 1977 and with every visit they have continued to upgrade the hotel. Now, everything about it wonderful. It is actually an amazing place to stay in an area of central Peru that not many international tourists visit but an area rich in genuine Andean culture and nature.

Friendly staff and very nice accommodations. Dining room was open breakfast through dinner or Lonche. A lot of menu options..

Buenas habitaciones con camas cómodas. Te brindan agua gratis cada día en el cuarto y tienen aire acondicionado. La atención es buena lo único que no es muy conveniente son los desayunos que están incluidos ya que son muy básicos y nada variado. Los platos a la carta son muy buenos.

I like the food, pool and gym.

The room very good, the bed comfortable, but the restaurant delays in attending, there we're only two persons including me and no one of the restaurant staff took my order.

Right across the street from the plaza so lots of activity. Also quite noisy as a result. If you enjoy high-energy street life, this is a good place to be. Breakfast menu was adequate but not enough staff. The staff that were working were kind and working quickly. No English spoken at the front desk or by wait staff. It was nice to have AC in the room. Lots of plastic film used-towels encased in plastic, silverware encased in plastic. Regularly ran out of hot water; avoid morning showers.

Hotel de estilo colonial agrabable, el servicio del personal es un poco impersonal, poco servicial, no tiene area para fumadores , ofrece un frio bar vacio, el material de las sabanas de mala calidad sintetico, mucho ruido externo que no deja descansar.

We stayed in Huánuco to split up the drive between Tingo Maria and Lima.

Pros: Despite being in the bustling town square, the room was very quiet. The hotel grounds are beautiful, there are some antiques, game room, nice pool, nice quartyard. The parking area is guarded and secure.

Cons: Room details listed on expedia are not accurate. I selected the "Double" room for 2 people with 1 king bed. When we arrived, they would only give us 2 double beds despite us showing the booking for 1 king bed. Obviously this is some sort of listing error, because in order to receive one bed, we would have to have only selected the room for 1 person. The room itself would be nice for a small group of people, because the second bed had its own small separate room (though it has a vented window to the bathroom, so there isn't much privacy). Looks like our room was more expensive than it would have been for just 1 bed, which is what we wanted and thought we booked anyway.

Another con: the shower head needed cleaning and wasn't distributing water, so we had to scrub the rubber pieces ourselves to release the water. Also, the shower wasn't draining properly. The fan wouldn't work in the middle of the night either.

Neutral feedback: The breakfast was small, but good. Bread, eggs, juice, and coffee or tea.

Overall, if I had to stay in Huánuco again, this hotel is probably the nicest out of all the options available, but there are some things that need updating both online and in the rooms.
