Hotel perfecto en kandy
Pros:

Ubicación genial, con vistas al lago de kandy, perfecto para moverte por la ciudad caminando. El hotel super bien cuidado, la habitación muy grande y con todas las comodidades, personal encantador. Desayuno muy bueno y variado

Good stay, everything is walking distance

Very pleasant stay - would recommend
Pros:

We stayed for 2 nights at Lakewood Residence on arrival in Kandy. Our first room was a basement room - smelt rather musty, but was comfortable. We were moved for our second night (without request) to a lovely room on the floor above. We enjoyed our stay both nights, and location is great. Breakfast was the best we ate in Sri Lanka - lots of options and everyone loved it. Staff were lovely- helpful and always available. Kids loved the pool. A very good experience overall.

**Serious Hygiene Issues and Very Poor Maintenance**

We were extremely disappointed with this stay, particularly given that we had been offered an upgraded suite and were paying over £110 per night. At that price point, we expected a clean, comfortable and well-maintained room. Unfortunately, the standard was nowhere near what we paid for.

The most serious issue was finding what appeared to be blood on the bed sheets. This was genuinely shocking and immediately made us question whether the bedding had been properly changed before our arrival and what standard of cleaning was being carried out between guests. Blood on supposedly clean bedding is completely unacceptable in any hotel, let alone in an upgraded suite at this price.

The cleanliness problems extended well beyond the bedding. There was visible mould in the fridge and mould around the shower area, and the room generally felt very grotty, tired and poorly maintained. It did not feel like a properly cleaned or cared-for hotel room.

The air conditioning unit was also leaking badly enough to flood part of the floor. We reported this to the hotel, but the response was extremely poor. Someone came to look at it, but rather than properly repairing the issue or offering us an alternative room, the apparent solution was simply to put a towel down to deal with the water.

The bathroom setup was also very strange and uncomfortable. There were blinds covering a window in the bathroom that opened towards the common areas of the property. Regardless of whether people could actually see through clearly, it did not give any real sense of privacy and felt completely inappropriate for a bathroom.

Noise was another major problem. The room was very noisy, which made it difficult to relax and added to the overall impression that this was not remotely the standard of accommodation we had paid for.

What made the whole experience worse was the way our concerns were handled.

Perfect place to watch the Perahara festival
Pros:

We went as a family to watch the Perahara festival. Perfect view of the temple of the tooth from the bedroom. 2 minute walk to the city centre and the mall. Attentive staff, great breakfast buffet with both Sri Lankan and western options.
Bedrooms were comfortable, pool was relaxing (again with the view of the temple)
