Pros:

Very nice place. Like most reviews indicate, there is a lot of light at night and the curtains do almost nothing. We hung towels over the windows and glass door to block it out. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and the property is well looked after. Good spot to relax and catch some beach days.

Pros:

Was a great place. Would definitely recommend this for a home base to explore western Crete. I didn’t have a car but after seeing the area would get a car, stay here, and explore more. A beautiful part of the world.

Lovely quiet holiday away from the crowds.
Pros:

We have recently returned from a two week stay here. We were disappointed on arrival having been allocated an economy room which was in the basement, and was dark, apparently we had booked economy but were told we had a balcony. It would have cost a lot more to change. However, we soon got used to it and it was nice and cool returning from the beach feeling very hot and bothered. We couldn't use the two drawers on the right in the wardrobe because the bedside table was in the way so they wouldn't open. The pillows were quite hard. At 9 o'clock we fancied a drink at the bar, bar? what bar? the restaurant was locked as the owners were away for a few days, and the next day we were told we could have a drink anytime if we asked, but there is no bar, so just saying this to prepare people booking if that's what they like. It's nice to have a bar where the guests can congregate and socialise, but we accepted that there wasn't one and bought our own wine and beer, however, we went out every evening anyway, so no problem. There is no pool which would have been nice at times for me as I'm a bit wobbly on my legs and found it a bit difficult getting into the sea on the beach, there are flat uneven rocks with crevices and you have to tread carefully. There are a couple of dogs that bark at every car that goes by, but the big one is lovely. Having got that out of the way, we had a really lovely time here, it is a really nice hotel, very quiet, you wouldn't know there were other guests apart from the ones next door, the gardens are beautiful, and the staff are really nice, especially Kasha who was so friendly, and kept our room so tidy and spotless every day.It was lovely to come back to our room and the bed which was made up so nicely every day.It was a pleasure to see her every day and nothing was too much trouble. The beach is lovely, no trouble getting a sunbed, sometimes there was hardly anyone else there, and so quiet apart from weekends when the local people came over, but even then it was quiet. You definitely need a car, as there is nowhere local to eat apart from the port, which is a fish restaurant, although there are a few meat dishes, it's just an ordinary restaurant, nothing fancy. We used to go into Kissamos every evening, we found the square where there are lots of shops and restaurants, and also went down to the seafront, where there are restaurants all the way along. Our favourite was Maria's Beach, we went there quite a few times. There are a lot of shops in the main street so you can get anything you want, and a couple of really good supermarkets.
We would recommend this hotel, as it is out of the way, and a little piece of Heaven, we would go back again but not for two weeks, maybe for a few days while touring. We visited Falasarna beach which isn't far away at all, quite often, it is a really beautiful beach. After the first disappointment the place grew on us day by day and at the end we were very sorry to leave.

Superb scenic hotel on the beach
Pros:

Arrived late Easter Sat for 2w. Immediately asked to share their evening meal and to join in their Easter Sunday BBQ--outstanding hospitality which Tula & Theo extended for our whole stay. Spotless place kept in order by Kasha who was so helpful in many many ways --Thank u. Weather was not to good however with strong winds and little sun for a week but picked up and really nice on our last day.
You definitely need a car to stay here and the walk into Kissamos is NOT recommended. No supermarket nearby but a good fish restaurant at the port a 10 minute walk away. Nearby Kaliviani has 4 restaurants in the vicinity with the cafe/taverna absolutely excellent.
There is no pool at the hotel but being on the beach with easy access and sun loungers perhaps not essential. Being early in the season the sea was not warm and inviting particularly with the cold wind. Kissamos itself is a working market town with lots of good food outlets and supermarkets. Head for the restaurant Petra in the main square next to the Creperie . Can thoroughly recommend Gramboussa Bay -- ideal for those with children but to repeat --you do need a car for whilst taxi fares are 6Eu each way to Kissamos that can mount up. --use Autofun car hire being the cheapest --again in the main square

Amazing quiet place
Pros:

This hotel is simply the best.

- clean, clean, clean
- the owners are amazingly kind
- prizes are ridiculously low
- you need a car but you would be mad to visit that area without renting one (or like we did, a scooter). There are so many places to visit! Explore! Elafonissi is 1h away, but only the road to the place is worth the drive (there is a little bar with an amazing terrace in Topolia which I strongly recommend)
- some room have no beach view, ok...but who cares! Cmon! The beach is just in front of the hotel, why would you spend time in the room??!
- some reviews complaining about bad WiFi. I didn’t even check, why would you need WiFi I have no idea! Just get out and enjoy Grece and the amazing people.

We will definitely come back, this place great!

Great view, beach, people
Pros:

We were lucky enough to sttumble on this smallish, family owned hotel, located in the north west corner of Crete. Our accommodations had a bedroom and a good size livingroom/kitchen with a single bed. It was comfortable and very clean. The balcony overlooks the beach, the beutiful blue-green water and the mountainous ridge on the other side of the water. A wonderful view. The owners were very hospitable. Breckfast was simple but with options andn homemade.
There are plenty of restaurant choices within a mile or two. There are also other beaches to vistit, roads to explore and Rakki to drink. The ridge across the water has a road (using the term loosely) that goes around to the end of the ridge with a 15-20 minute walk to a beach. The drive alone is worth it for the views and the quizical goats. Along the way, a family has a stand set up, selling local honey, Rakki and jams. Give them some business, you won't regret it.
All to say, if you like getting off the beaten path and being able to stay in a clean, comfortable hotel with beautiful views, this is your place. Did I mention the reasonable rates?

Peaceful Getaway
Pros:

We really loved Gramvoussa Bay Hotel, it was quiet, private, clean, and a stones throw from the beach. Due to its location you will either need to book a taxi from the hotel to kissamos (about a 5 minute drive and approx 6 euros), as there are no nearby restaurants or supermarkets, or hire a car for your stay, which would enable you to check out the beautiful beaches such as Balos, Falasarna, Elafonissi, Kedrossas. Alternatively, you can take a boat trip around a few of the islands and beaches, the port being only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The couple who own the hotel, Tgeodoros and Tula were lovely people! very kind, helpful and generous hosts that genuinely care about their guests having a wonderful experience. The house keeper Katja (not sure how to spell her name) was also very warm and chatty and would always greet you with a smile. I would love to go back again one day. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Oasis
Pros:

We stayed 1 week in this lovely hotel. Very rare I feel sad when I leave the place. I felt like this when we leaved Gramvoussa Bay. The owners Tgeodoros and Tula were very nice. I suggest to spend one evening in their company. The place is very green and calm. Very good for those who avoid nosy touristic centers. The beach is very close, just in 150 meters. But I suggest the beach in 300 m to the right - there is very pleasant big sand instead of plates near the hotel. The place can be the perfect base for trips to the nearby astonishing beaches: Balos, Falasarna, Elafonissi, Kedrossas. Certainly you should have a car staying there. The staff membee Kashja ( I am not sure if I correctly wrote her name) from Poland does her job perfectly - rooms are kept very clean. In general very very good family hotel. Recommend.

Friendly stuff x on the beach x amazing breakfast
Pros:

I cannot begin to express how amazing this entire experience was. First off the house itself is unbelievable. It is one of the houses directly on the beach in the area. Location, lovely garden and sun loungers both in garden and on adjacent beach. Friendly staff, you could order everything you wanted for breakfast, walking distance from the port where you take the boat to Balos - Gramvoussa.

In many ways a great property, but with significant problems.
Pros:

I am torn with this review.
In many ways this is a great property but there are significant problems. I failed in my usually good research as it didn't fit our remit.
The first problem was that our apartment although it was very clean and well appointed with fridge and kettle etc, it faced the back over many wires to a building plot and some low hills. Despite stating sea view please in the preference box, I had missed the small print saying mountain view. It is essential to get a sea view as the sunsets etc can be spectacular and there is nowhere else to view them here, and it really doesn't feel good whilst most other people are enjoying spectacular views from balconies with their G&Ts.
Another niggle and its rather pathetic how dependant we become, but the wi-fi was dreadful, non in our room, but oddly available on the beach.
The next big problem is that there was a non functioning restaurant which just offered at extra cost a very poor breakfast (we only braved it once). It was closed the rest of the day and there are no nearby tavernas.
So that is the final and biggest problem. You have to have a car to go out to eat or you have to self cater. You cannot easily walk to any alternative taverna the nearest being several miles away.
On the positive side the beach is really good, clean quiet and with good sun beds and clear clean water with fairly good (for the med) snorkelling. (worth a visit if your are staying elsewhere).
Fortunately we had hired a car and we ended up driving everywhere and using the apartment for sleeping and breakfast.
In fairness the owners were very friendly and offered us a very attractive upgrade at reduced but still considerable extra cost. However although sea view this didn't solve the other problems and so we declined.
In the end we took a loss and moved to another area.
For the owners, I am sorry but you need to either open up the restaurant as a proper taverna, or help someone else to nearby. Your property then would become much more attractive.

A special experience
Pros:

in a way I give it a 4 as the wifi is so bad , the modum is in the reception so when the doors there opens in the morning its gets a little bit better, same at night when the doors getting closed , very bad again, otherwise its easy to give the accommondation a 5+.
You get a lot for 3*** :
- A fantastisk beach with free beds for guests , otherwise 2 euro pp
- A exceptional good cleaning service
- A beautifull garden in bourgainville style , with herbs etc for use in the kitchen
- A great chilled family , easy to go around with and helpfull
- A great place for children to
Its in a very central position , outside Kissamos 5-10 min , but the harbour for boattrips and the fishrestaurant Limani are on walking distance.
If you have your own transport is fine but Taxi is not bad either :
- Kissamos 6 euro where the supermarkets and ATM are and some good restaurants.
- 10 min away from here is Kaliviani with some good restaurants , diff. price/quality .
- Falassarna is also nice to visit , obs sunset ;-)
- my favoritt is in the mountain , Rotonta cafe fantastik salad garden playground for kids , animals , trails for walking.
- Bus from hotel to Balos beach and/or boattrip to Gramvousa island and Balos beach.

Tip 1 : this district is cheaper and better quality food than tourist centra as agia marina.
Tip 2 : if there is a smell in the bathroom (sometimes due windconditions) ask for cleaning and the gummiweightlock to put on the drain ;-)
Tip 3 : its possible to get breakfast , but if you ask maybe they have something for dinner , its good , real homestyle on there own conditions ;-) , so no menu but surprice.

Cool family spot on a beautiful bay
Pros:

The Greek family that runs the apartments are lovely friendly and very chilled people. We were supposed to stay 2 days and we ended up staying 5. It's perfectly located to visit the beautiful surrounding beaches and still away from the busy, noisy, touristy areas. Literally 60 seconds away from a calm small beach, perfect for a late lonely swim. I'll be staying here again in the future. Thank you. Carlos, Andreia and André.

Quiet and private getaway hotel
Pros:

A small hotel located just off a secluded and almost private beach. There is little restaurant where you can have lunch or dinner. Got the villa that has an unbelievable view towards the bay. Very scenic and very serene.
The city of kissamos is just 3km away, where you can find lots of taverns, bakeries and coffee shops.
Balos bay is a must visit. Be warned that you have to drive on dirt road, and then after you park there is a 20' hike down the mountain, but definitely worth it.

Great find
Pros:

We booked this hotel last minute online for a one night stay as we were passing, so we didnt expect much! I must say though we were pleasently suprised this place was absolutly great, the room was very spacious and clean and when we opened our balcony doors we were greated with an amazing view of the hotels lovely gardens and past that was the beach and sea which again were perfect. We decided to book in for evening meal at the hotel as we liked it so much and the food was great the staff which were the family that own and run this place were fantastic they made us feel so welcome and tried so hard to make sure everything was ok during our stay. Again as we were so happy we decided to book in for breakfast before we left which was again lovely. The only problem with our visit is that we never stayed for a second or third night. Thanks to all at this little gem of a place, and we will defo visit for longer on our next visit to crete....
