Location and general areas are very attractive. Staff is very kind and helpful. Kitchen and rooms are on the basic side.
Very quiet are away from the tourist crowd, walking on the beach is relaxing. The breakfast was very good.
Location and property very nice
Found scorpion inside my room under my bed
The staff was just wonderful, a big happy family who welcomed me straight away. Lovely location, straight at the beach with great food and beautiful rooms. The owners are just delightful and really cared about my complete stay. I would definitely come back here again!
Great location
Disappointing Stay — Not Worth the Price
We stayed here after spending time at another villa nearby, and unfortunately this villa did not compare. The hotel menu was much more expensive than other hotels we stayed at, and overall, it felt very touristy rather than a genuine local experience. It’s not run by a local, and you can tell it’s more catered to tourists.
One of the biggest issues was with the cleaning staff. They would enter our room even when we were still on the property — even while we were trying to relax in the room, they insisted on cleaning. At one point, they sprayed ant repellent inside our room while we were trying to come back in, and we were forced to wait outside for 15–20 minutes. It really disrupted our stay and didn’t feel respectful of our privacy.
The rooms are very small — basically just a bed and a bathroom. The bathroom walls even had holes where you could literally see into the bathroom from the bedroom, which made it feel even less private. On top of that, they cut off the water without any warning, leaving us stuck without being able to shower or flush.
Wi-Fi is only available in the restaurant area and doesn’t reach the rooms, which made it hard to stay connected. Although the staff was professional and polite, the whole experience felt cold and not homey at all.
Perfect hotel very quiet the good
dimensions. The personnels on top. The boss very sympathic. The room very clean. Good coktaild
A little piece of paradise
This side of Zanzibar Island is quite a distance from any service, shopping or dining so everything has to be arranged through the hotel or a tour company. It is a small boutique hotel, which we liked and worked out ok for us, but we didn't really realize in advance that once you're there, you're kinda stuck. We enjoyed the food, salt-water pool, sit-upon kayaks (not sea kayaks) and walking on the beach but it was quite windy while we were there and the bicycles were old and rickety, but gave us a good workout. There were some poor descriptions about what each tour included, there is no laundry facility guests can use as the website said. They could send laundry out, but not very cheaply, and we were concerned how long it would take. The desk manager did work with us to clarify tour descriptions and coordinated transfers and tours to our satisfaction. He made adjustments to the tour descriptions and our final bill when we pointed out the discrepancies, so were grateful for that. Stone Town and Prison Island tours were not as impressive as expected, but I'm comparing to an extremely well-done tour in Ghana of the slave dungeons of the Cape Coast Castle, which was much more comprehensive and informative.
If you are prepared to just go relax on the beach or by the pool, it's a beautiful setting, but be warned the tide goes in and out nearly 3 times per day, so swimming in the ocean when the tide is out really isn't an option.
It is a gated security property.
Please be ready to hear the muezzin at 5 am in the morning. Mosquee just behind.
And ongoing construction work on the left of the hotel. Be ready not to be able to rest!!
Staff housing just behind the hotel rooms…
And the pool is ancient age !
The king bed was 2 beds together and you fell through in the middle a bit.
Great beach , lovely pool, great restaurant, lovely breakfast
Food and drink a little too expensive
hotel is well located in front of the beach. park is very beautiful with a lot of vegetation. building is also nice, well integrated.
rooms are specious, well arranged and clean. bathroom is nice too.
personnel is helpful.
the two very dispointing points are:
- salt water in the bathroom during all our stay. we have been told that this was normal and happening often. this is not what we are expected for such type of hotel.
- food price at the hotel restaurant is really disconnected from the market. better to choose the half or full board or to go for lunch in another hotel.
The staff is definitely the best!
Joe, Robert and Ely are such a cool guys and they are all available to help you in everything.
The breakfast is very good aswell!
Is a very quiet hotel for those who are looking for it.
Ely makes the best Brazilian Caipirinhas!
The accommodation and the room were nice in general but there was no hot water for 2days to take shower which wasn’t good.
The Wi-Fi connection is not good so I recommend you to get a TIGO data SIM ( staff can help you to get one)
The food and Cocktails prices on bar are very expensive comparing other Hotels. Most of the 5 stars hotels around have the food and cocktails cheaper.
I would suggest to cut some of the small trees around the pool so you could see the amazing beach in front while you swim or enjoy the pool.
This is a well run hotel with basic facilities. The problem is the beach. It is full of rocks and sea urchins making it unusuable. No one was swimming in the sea. This should be made clear as not everyone wants to swim in the pool.
Lovely boutique hotel with lovely staff. Very clean room and all communal areas very well looked after. All neat and clean. Breakfast with the best view. Very peaceful. Not tried the pool but was great lounging under the palm trees on the authentic looking deckchair overlooking the sea. Bliss. Limited breakfast options but enough choice for my 3 day stay. Offered packed breakfast on my departure day as I left very early, at 5am. Would definitely go back to Zanzibar Magic again!
Wi-fi in my room was unstable, but it is a general problem everywhere in Africa. Not the hotel's fault.
