I was looking forward towards the experience of staying in a renovated baglio, as I have visited a few over the years and have experienced some amazing hospitality.
This hotel was unfortunately highly disappointing. We had booked a Deluxe Double Room, the description of which read: “These rooms are located both in the tower with views over the vineyards and Egadi Islands and also located inside the ancient courtyard with a window.
These rooms are equipped with a four-poster bed, a flat-screen satellite TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries and slippers.”

We got a room in a newly built annex near the parking lot, where the overpowering air freshener covered up mild smell of humidity (see photos attached). Our window faced a containment wall at the back with some decorative rosemary, and we could see (and be seen) by anyone on the pathway leading up to the main building. We were told these were the “new rooms” and were classed as Deluxe. The outdoor patio of the room was just a bunch of black furniture, and a grid divider that did not divide at all from the patio of the room next to ours. Walking in the building, you practically looked into the window (and door, if ajar) of the room next door, allowing them no privacy. Next door we had a family with at least one kid, lovely and polite but we could hear everything in the bathroom, including conversations at a very normal volume (like literally you could hear every word, and toilet flush, and everything in between, just behind our headboard).
Also the room description says “four poster bed”, not that it matters but it was not four poster at all.

Breakfast was not great, with some cakes and other items but also lots of packaged food (and those dreadful table bins for trash that one would not expect in a 4 star hotel): further note, the mozzarelline did not taste fresh at all.
