The property is overrated. I selected Plaza Carnaval Hotel based on the feedback from previous guests, but I found those reviews to be misleading. The hotel is decent, but three stars is simply too generous. The downtown location feels unsafe for walking after dark, forcing us to rely on taxis to reach better dining areas. As an experienced traveler, I believe this hotel deserves only a two-star rating.

We were offered tea, coffee and cookies on arrival and also had a knock at the door in the evening with an offer of sweet tea, wafers and sweets.
