Luxury Apartment in Barraco

The apt was very comfortable, bed was great, nice bathroom, location was super. The only problem we had was checking in, the guard did not know we were arriving so getting the key was a hassle. But once that was done, we had a great stay.

We love the Barranco district of Lima, my husband's home town. It's less touristy and less expensive than nearby Miraflores but full of things to do within walking distance -old pubs, nightclubs, swanky new concept restaurants, beautiful ocean views, and live entertainment in the historic Barranco square. This is an apartment in a new building, so we got twice as much space and much nicer, cleaner finishes for the same amount we’ve paid before for tiny, grimy rooms in other true ‘hotels’. The room was decorated with thoughtful details like local artwork and pretty linens embroidered with little llamas. Our room had a closet with clothes washer/dryer combo and laundry soap to put in it, an excellent air conditioner, all the cookware you could need, wine glasses, a real oven, even a blender and an electric kettle for boiling tap water. Daily maid service is not included –you can message the owner to pay extra for this- but the room came with plenty of big towels, cleaning products, and extra trash can liners in case we needed them, so we were happy to have total privacy instead of a maid. Our only difficulty came in finding the building in the first place; google maps had an old picture taken during construction. You’ll want to look for a white building with steps that go down to glass doors that say ‘museum'. The guard for the building will have to buzz you in at all times. The owner had arranged for the guard to give us the keys to the apartment. Security was excellent.

Good value compared to hotel of equivalent cost and location. Easy and flexible check-in. Comfortable king size bed, nice lighting and a balcony. Needs a hand towel and there were some stains on the bedding - seems like the cover wasn't washed. A water filter or a couple water bottles in the fridge would be nice. Also provide instructions for the blinds and there was a powerful chemical smell from an air freshener so opening the blinds and windows was an immediate priority. Overall pretty great and thanks for the rental!
