I recently stayed at Hilton Belgrade and while the hotel itself is modern, clean, and generally comfortable, my experience with payment handling was extremely disappointing.
At check-in, I was informed that a security deposit in the amount of one night’s stay would be preauthorized on my card. However, the hotel ended up blocking a significantly higher amount (equivalent to multiple nights), in addition to processing the actual charge for the stay. This left a substantial sum of money unavailable on my account without prior notice or clear explanation.
Even more concerning, my card was taken behind the reception desk and card details were manually entered. As a guest, this made me uncomfortable from a security perspective. Card transactions should be handled transparently and in the presence of the cardholder.
To be clear — the hotel facilities, rooms, and overall atmosphere were good. However, financial transparency and proper handling of guests’ payment details are fundamental. Because of this experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
I strongly recommend future guests carefully monitor their card transactions and request clear written confirmation of any deposit amounts before check-in.
