Nice decor lovely bar helpful staff
Great location with plenty of food spots and the lovely botanic gardens .
The overall experience was nice, friendly staff, comfortable bedroom, a nice bar and close to a good amount of charity shops, cafes, restaurants etc.
As nice as the bathroom was, an option for showering without a rain shower would of been nice.
Also there was no air conditioning, found the room to be very congested, windows open a fraction to let air in but it's not enough. Hard to breath in the room.
I also requested a card to be left on the bed for my partners birthday, put it in the main booking and even called ahead to a member of staff who took my details on what to put into the card.
Was disappointed when entering the room to find nothing.
Friendly helpful staff. Rooms were basic and a bit dated but comfortable and value for money.
Bit of a walk to the centre but there was plenty around the hotel.
Perfect location. Really central.
I accidentally booked a twine room when I meant to book a double. The girl at the desk fixed it immediately upon check in. My only comment was and it’s not even a complaint … it was 2 singles pushed together. But it was dead on. No issues
I like the style of it and it had what we expected and needed.
The shower was a little hard to use/understand… and the taps in the washstand separated cool and hot water. Why? : ) Yet, it was clean and stylish!
Bedroom and bathroom were pretty good. The staff were quite friendly and location was pretty central.
When we checked in there was no hand soap or hand towels provided. When we asked at reception they still didn’t bring hand soap and said that there was also no shower gel available and the hand soap was not addressed. The bed side tables were also pretty dusty and seemed dirty. The location while central didn’t always feel the safest, especially the area right around the hotel.
It was cute and had a great theme/decor. It was conveniently located to where I could easily travel to. The staff were also helpful when I asked some questions about a few things (luggage storage, buying a bus/train ticket, and very kind).
I think because of the very dark wall paint & no overhead light , the rooms/hallways felt darker than most places do, and there were a lot of hallway doors that seemed unnecessary or were just unlabeled so it was slightly hard to tell a route if you didn’t see a sign. It also felt a little dirtier/seemed a little darker just because of this lighting & dark paint.
I loved the bed! It was super comfortable
The overall cleanliness of the property was a pretty big draw back - we noticed all the hallways were super dark and honestly, there was a reason for that. It was all pretty grubby. The water in our shower would turn off everything morning about 10 seconds into the shower - we worked out that if we turned the water off and on a few times, it would give us enough water to shower. The toilet was pretty tough to get a full flush on too. Luckily we asked for a room far away from the nightclub and got one on the 3rd floor, which I would recommend. the staff was friendly though and had good suggestions on where to park in the area.
The area is ‘interesting’ - it’s super close to the botanical gardens, which was a nice walk but there were a number of homeless folks around and most of the restaurants in the area closed early. The fish and chip shop across the road was a good late night feed.
2nd room was nice, Bar and breakfast good with friendly staff. Reception staff welcoming and happy to store luggage. Outside canopy area great with heaters.
Hotel in need of renovation. Reception area cupboards collapsing. First bedroom bedhead wall (no headboard) grim with dark staining / grease. Asked to move which they did and apologised. Which we appreciated. Broken floor tile in shower needs replacing before someone cuts there foot. Hot water scolding hot - too hot. Also a good walk or short uber to the centre. Finally from second floor room, music from bar directly below was loud until late on Saturday night. Just be aware. Overall we were disappointed with the standard for what we had paid, but the staff were lovely.
Nice staff at the reception
On our first day at the bar, when we ordered breakfast, a man did not treat us very well in his actions. He seemed unwelcoming, his face was very tense, and he responded only with one-word answers. I noticed that he is a serious, efficient, and attentive worker who knows his job well, but I still felt unwelcome.
On the other hand, the woman on the following days was extremely kind, and her smile never left her face. Please convey my regards to her
