Lovely venue, very modern, great breakfast and lovely roof top bar
Price was quite steep.
Worst sleep ever. This is a hostel - not a hotel. We live in a very busy city in Colombia and are used to noise - but this was something else. Absolutely no soundproofing. The rooftop bar goes until 3am, and it is LOUD. We were on the 2nd floor ( poor people on the 4th and 3rd), and despite pushing the provided earplugs in as deep as they could go we heard every beat. Finally at 3:00am the music stopped - at 6am people were yelling outside and at 7am the staff were getting ready for breakfast on the rooftop. Electricity was out at 5am - meaning we could not elevate the electric window shades. We dressed in the dark , packed our bags and left for a beautiful and quiet hotel opposite this hotel. I wish we had read the reviews before booking here. What a disappointment.
I can't say enough about this place. A charming little gem conveniently located in the heart of Cartagena's Old Town, within easy walking distance of great shops, restaurants, cathedrals, etc. The rooftop bar and restaurant serves a delicious breakfast and is a lively spot for happy hour and late-night partying. But what really sets this place apart is the staff and the service they provide. We were traveling with a friend who required special assistance on a couple of occasions, and the Townhouse staff jumped in and saved the day without a moment's hesitation nor a whisper of complaint. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating and thoroughly pleasant throughout. I owe them a tremendous thanks!
Loud and unfriendly staff. Terrible food. Tacky AF
Charming and comfortable hotel located in the historical walled old city. Our room #301 - Flaming was very spacious with two queen beds, impeccably clean, with a charming balcony overlooking the street. The whole building has been thoroughly refurbished and equipped with modern amenities. The staff is super responsive and all communication with the front desk happens via WhatsApp. There is a charming rooftop bar, which serves breakfast. Breakfast food was delicious and it is served until 12PM, which is great for late starters. Fully recommend this hotel.
Fabulous location for a family visit to Cartagena! We enjoyed the Townhouse hotel immensely, and found the setup ideal for a family with kids, by booking one of the 2-bedroom/2 bathroom suites (we splurged and even booked the one with the private deck and dining pool). The hotel's location is excellent - in the center of old town, extremely close to where many walking tours meet up and close to tons of shops and restaurants.
The rooftop restaurant has great views, a delicious breakfast (included in most rates), and good food during the afternoon and evening as well. The staff at the hotel are incredibly friendly, and you can use WhatsApp to contact them for anything you need. I found the level of assistance to be like having speed dial to a concierge team who would take care of anything! We asked for help with airport transportation each way (highly recommend doing this), and we also decided to go to the sister property (Blue Apple Beach Club) for a lunch and early afternoon at the beach on one of our days. The Townhouse team set up the boat transfers and reserved loungers for the whole family - all included in our daily rate already! This was a great way to get out on the water and have some time in the sun at the beach, enjoying a lovely less urban setting with great food and a bigger pool (and a beach) - without having to spend 8-10 hours in a boat going from place to place like many of the tours advertised all over the city.
The housekeeping team is excellent as well, and our rooms felt squeaky clean on arrival and after each daily cleaning. The internet wifi worked very well and was fast - and my kids could watch movies in the evening with ease. The air conditioning also worked very well. Compared to an equivalent experience in the United States (or at a major international brand hotel in Cartagena), the value for what we paid was excellent.
We really liked being in the old town, instead of at one of the large hotels in Boca Grande, as one could pop in and out to walk in the old town so easily, and it felt safe in old town. Also, we didn't take a taxi at all during our stay - except for to and from the airport.
Any downsides? I can only think of two. One - that if you are a light sleeper, and you don't like to wait to go to bed after midnight, then this might not be the hotel for you from Thursday-Saturday, when the rooftop bar is open til midnight and is quite noisy. Bring white noise machines (or use the provided earplugs by the bedside), or just plan to stay up til midnight! That said, if you are coming specifically for quiet, this might not be your place. I myself don't like noisy rooms - but found I could sleep with the white noise machine going, and that the noise really went way down after midnight. The second drawback would be if you specifically want a medium-large pool in your hotel (or a full gym in your hotel), then you might not be thrilled, as the rooftop pools are more for dipping than for swimming. I'd advise you to get your exercise walking (or running) in the old town instead!
The online pics were accurate - just look at the website to get a good sense of the different kind of rooms. And if you have specific needs, ask the team and they will let you know if they can make it happen, before you book.
If you do book, you'll get the most original booking confirmation I have ever received from a hotel. Trust me... book and you'll see what I mean!
Excellent hotel. Laura at reception welcomes you warmly with refreshing costeñitas to start your stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the sunset view is stunning, and the drinks are delicious. Highly recommended
A well located hotel with a refined and well kept appearance. The food was of good quality and daily housekeeping was consistently maintained. The rooms have a distinct style and are comfortable. Lau provided attentive and efficient service, and the staff as a whole were courteous throughout. A thoroughly pleasant stay
Rooms are small without windows. There was a small machine trying to kill the bad smell, but it was really humid and tiny without the sun or windows. Staff was not cooperative.
Nestled in the heart of the old town, full
Of colour and brightness, the Townhouse masterpiece is the Rooftop. Here, evening upon evening the sun sets behind the Cathedral dome - at least in January - offering a stunning backdrop to the day.
The location also serves as the breakfast room where Colombian delights ranging from fruit to eggs start your day along with good coffee. The staff too make for the most relaxing and hospitable atmosphere too… Dainis, and Jessica to name two.
The rooms fulfil the understanding of boutique and my particular view on to Carrera street was an insight into a pleasant business that was never rowdy. The Townhouse is a super place to stay if you’re ever in Cartagena
I had a great stay at Townhouse. From the beginning, the service was warm and welcoming. Laura, Yesith, and Marie at the front desk were very kind, helpful, and always ready to give good advice and recommendations, which really made a difference.
The cleanliness was excellent and everything felt well taken care of. At times, you can hear a bit of street noise, but the place is so comfortable that you can still rest and sleep well. It’s a place with character, good energy, and a really nice vibe. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back
The hotel is beautiful full of art with well thought out spaces and a calm stylish feel. Everything was very clean and being welcomed with a local beer was a simple but thoughtful touch. The reception team were genuinely warm especially Laura who was lovely and shared great recommendations. The rooftop has a stunning view and the bar staff were friendly and easy to chat with. Overall it was a great experience. Comfortable welcoming and definitely a place I would stay at again.
The hotel is located on a quiet block yet it is centrally located to all the action. The breakfast (included with the room), served on the rooftop deck was a delicious and perfect way to start the day. The rooms are beautiful and whimsical! Excellent value for the price! Also....best reservation confirmation email ever!
Lau was amazing! She is more than just a person who works the front desk but an Ambassador for all things Townhouse and Cartagena. She was able to get us a free (pay what you like) tour and it was probably one of the best tours ever. She was great with directions and whatever we needed she was right there. The welcome beer was an added elevated touch. Not only will I stay there again but highly recommend. The room was spacious and so was the bathroom which is always an extra plus. The entire place was super clean.
The hotel is perfectly located in the old town, but what really stood out was the service. The reception team was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and they even greeted us with a welcome beer.
We had to leave very early the next morning and couldn’t take the breakfast, but they prepared sandwiches for us to take on the road, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The rooftop bar is a highlight on its own: great vibes, great drinks, and amazing views over Cartagena.
Overall, just a genuinely cool place with people who truly care. Highly recommended.
Townhouse was great. From the moment i arrived, Laura welcomed me with a costeñita (the local beer) and made me feel at home right away. She was super attentive the whole time, and Yasi and Maria at the front desk were just as helpful. If you’re ever unsure about what to do, they always have great recommendations and guide you without hesitation.
The hotel itself has such a nice, cozy style, and you can tell they take care of every detail. Breakfast was delicious, and the room service was really fast, which i loved. Everything is managed through whatsapp too, so communication is super easy.
Overall, it is a place where you feel comfortable and well taken care of. I’d definitely recommend it and i’ll for sure be coming back
We did not stay at this hotel but ate at the rooftop bar. The bar was super cute and the food was awesome. I loved the eggplant “kebobs” and my husband loved the fish tacos.
I really loved my stay here. From the very start, the service was excellent especially Laura and Majo at the front desk, who were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready with great recommendations. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of fresh, high quality options that made every morning start off great. And the beautiful art around the hotel gives the whole place such a warm and unique atmosphere. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it
