Brilliant place to base yourself in to see and explore a wonderful town
Pros:

Everything! First time we’ve stayed in a cave. It was very comfortable and spacious. Location perfect with probably best views in Matera. Staff very friendly.

Cons:

Nothing. Hard to believe but couldn’t fault property in anyway.

Lovely suite in the middle of the Sassi - just don't arrive on a Thursday if you fancy a beer!
Pros:

Superb location in the middle of the Sassi. Lovely suite on the ground floor next to reception. Great views of the Sassi from the terrace where breakfast is served each morning - juice was gorgeous - freshly squeezed.

Cons:

Breakfast is a la carte and like most of Italy, it all comes at once - cereral, juice, hot food, breads so if you like your food hot....eat quickly! We booked a room with a balcony/terrace unfortunately the terrace was basically the entrance to the hotel so not very private. Not a biggie as we only stayed a few nights and were out early each morning. We arrived on a Thursday only to be told that was the day the bar was shut so not very impressed with that - this should have been mentioned at time time of booking and/or a discount applied. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The hotel also needs to correct its GPS coords for the parking area as they are about 1 mile out.
