We had the most amazing holiday in Thessaloniki — it truly exceeded every expectation! From the moment we arrived, the people were so warm, welcoming, and friendly — such a lovely, genuine atmosphere everywhere we went. The city is beautiful, right by the stunning waterfront, and the beaches are just a short trip away — easy to get to and absolutely lovely.
We stayed at The Modernist Hotel and honestly — it was absolutely fantastic. You couldn’t fault it in any way! Spotlessly clean throughout, beautifully designed, and the staff were incredible — so helpful, kind, and attentive from start to finish. Being right in the city centre meant everything was on our doorstep — perfect location!
We were there celebrating my 50th birthday and our wedding anniversary — and it was the most wonderful place to mark both special occasions. There’s such a fantastic selection of things to do — we went on a boat trip, enjoyed the open-top bus tour, relaxed by the waterfront, and spent time at the beach. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing, adventure, and pure relaxation — something for everyone!
If you’re thinking of visiting Thessaloniki, The Modernist Hotel is an absolute must-stay, and the city itself is just beautiful. We left with such happy memories — can’t wait to go back!

Un hôtel sympathique, idéalement situé en centre-ville, ce qui permet de profiter facilement des alentours et de visiter la ville à pied.
L’accueil est très professionnel et chaleureux. Les chambres sont bien aménagées, confortables et fonctionnelles.
Mention spéciale au petit-déjeuner, servi sur le rooftop : un véritable point fort de l’hôtel ! L’offre est particulièrement variée et généreuse : fruits frais, pâtisseries, produits laitiers, fromages, charcuterie, boissons chaudes et froides etc..… Il y en a vraiment pour tous les goûts.
Bref, une adresse agréable, bien située et avec un excellent petit-déjeuner. Bref je recommande !

Great location in the very center of Thessaloniki. Staff is incredibly friendly. Clean apartment, comfortable beds. Gym was a bonus. Will definitely come back when in town.

All receptionists were kind to share some insider advice, restaurants, highlights. Always with a smile on their face! Breakfast was well thought, healthy ratio of fruits and vegetables, sweet corner with pitas, and a fridge with every possible milk and yoghurt. Opulent yet with simple and homemade ingredients. The room was spotless, a small balcony was a percest way to spot the neighbouring residential buildings, it was a way to notice the town folks with their daily lives and comonalities. The hotel is such a modern gem next to the waterfront, shopping area, and all the monumets, including the White tower! I will recommend this property and make sure to return soon to the Modernist!
