My stay at Saffron started out well. The pick up from the airport was timely and the car was clean. The driver, Brian, was very respectful and professional.
The check-in process was flawless. Promise, the daytime receptionist was so friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The meals were well prepared and they heeded to my requests of special meals due to my food allergies. Their medium fish was so big I couldn’t finish it by myself. They even accepted to keep half the fish for me for the next meal.
The rooms were are well maintained and because I extended my stay by a day, they requested whether I needed my room cleaned.
However, some of the facilities as shown by the online photos on Expedia were non-existent on ground. For example, the photo of benches on a mowed lawn by the lake which in reality is nonexistent.
Similarly, my last morning was the worst. I could not get hot shower, the system had a malfunction and no room had a hot shower. After waiting for 3 hours to have the the hot shower fixed, I was disappointed to realize that nothing had been done and the staff were not really bothered.
The other disappointment was the fact that the receptionist’s phone was disabled in the night and early morning making it difficult to communicate with the reception desk as you have to physically walk there yet there are phones in the room which should ease that.
Black mold in the ceiling and bath tub did not work
Properly has a nice location but is run down. Needs a lot of cosmetic updating and new TVs. Has streaming but would not working because the internet was very bad. Power went out numerous times. I prepaid for property and then at the end they said I owed taxes of $55. I had already paid taxes. To orbitz of $47 so I got doubled charged for taxes.
We had a late check-in and we were well cared for even got food as kids were starving from a long flight transfer.
I stayed for 5 nights and although I didn’t ask, no one offered to do any cleaning in my room. The tub had a hole in it near the drain and there was no curtain so between the two the floor got really wet. There wasn’t much water pressure and brown and black sediment often came out in the water. There isn’t much beach but the garden area has a great view of Lake Victoria. There are a couple of small restaurants nearby and the zoo is about a 29 minute walk.
This hotel is not like the pictures. The property looks nice from the outside but that is not the case for the inside. Upon entering our room, we noticed an infestation of spiders along the curtain and windows. The whole room and bathroom were dirty and poorly maintained. We could not stay. Unfortunately we still had to pay for our two nights. We didn't want to argue and just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. We had stayed all over Uganda for the past 2 weeks and had not seen such a poorly maintained room. Very disappointing.
The guesthouse is okay, although no door to the bathroom. Bathroom filled with lake flies at night as some window vents do not have mosquito net.
Bed was comfortable. Room had a big bath but no shower.
Breakfast was nice.
With some small changes, this place could be great.
I was staying only overnight so it was dark when i arrived and dark when I left. I didn't see the lake but enjoyed the sounds of the waves from my balcony. Service was terrific and the staff was very helpful when I left something behind
The stay was horrible.
When I got to the hotel, though I had a reservation, no rooms were available. They sent me to another hotel which was not up to par. Also the staff were clueless; they couldn't address basic questions and issues and provide basic services.
Very kind and hospitable staff; good location; nice room.
Important to get a beach view room as the others look a little claustrophobic.
This property is in need of a full renovation .
My room was full of flys and Mosquitos .
Hygiene was of a very poor standard . Owners and staff were wonderful .
If i had booked for more than one night , i would have gone to another hotel .
Also staff throwing stones at the Monkeys .
Plenty of good hotels in Entebbe , this one is one to avoid . I hope that Expidia will stop using this hotel .
Very friendly and nice location
across from the lake, Everything real clean, People were GREAT!
Would Go BACK
The staff and owner at Saffron were great! I had made a date error on my booking as my arrival was actually a day earlier than I had reserved. When I arrived exhausted at 4am, the gracious person at the front desk found me a room despite the confusion that was all my fault, and the next day when I met the owner, he upgraded me to a much nicer room for the remainder of my three night stay! Their location is just across a quiet street from Lake Victoria, and there is a beachfront grassy area for guest use right on the water. I really liked the quiet location and the easy ten minute walk from to a major grocery store. The restaurant was great with a wide variety of choices very reasonably priced. Walking in the area was nice too and there are several other little beachfront bars/restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Entebbe!
Property was right on lake Victoria with great views! Convenient location for shopping and close to airport! Owner was very hospitable allowed me to take afternoon nap in room due to late flight! I would definitely stay again!
I had a wonderful stay at Saffron. The nicest part was the warm and incredibly accommodating staff. I had a late flight and they were happy to let me check out late from my room. They were always available and were happy to help answer questions and assist me with anything I needed. Their location on the beach in excellent and I really enjoyed have breakfast looking out over Lake Victoria. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel with great views of the lake. The food is fantastic and the hotel staff was very accommodating when we arrived. Upon first arrival we saw were struck by the incredible number of night-flies that were flying around the lights which was quite off-putting. These bugs are harmless but, not something you want in your room or in your bed. When inspecting our room, we noticed the sheets were dirty (most likely from dead night-flies) and so we asked for new sheets. Instead of changing the sheets, the staff decided to upgrade our room to the suit. The new room was beautiful and had many fewer flies because it was on the second floor. We really enjoyed the balcony and the staff even offered to bring our breakfast to our room so we could eat out on the balcony and enjoy the amazing view.
At the time of our stay this property was brand new and still in the process of being renovated. The floor was covered by a fake tile plastic and the mirror was not hung up above the sink. After talking to the owner, I was informed that many of these issues are in process of being fixed: mosquito nets for beds have been ordered, updated flooring is being put in, and screens are being placed on windows to prevent night flies. All in all, this is a beautiful property with amazing Indian food. When the property is fully updated it will be fantastic but there is still a lot to do. I would however, try to avoid the night fly season as it is impossible to avoid their swarms.
