Very clean, very nice breakfast provided!

Room is very clean and larger compared to other double bed rooms hotel.

The property is a little dated in some areas like the hallways and dining areas, but the staff could not have been more supportive. The breakfast was a great bonus- classic Icelandic spread. Good place to stay on the peninsula

The food is very good. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable enough, though the linens are a bit scratchy. The bathrooms are adequate but tiny. Our main complaint was that the rooms are stuffy and hot--almost no air flow--so in the summer months you can't close the blinds or you'll lose what little air is available. Slept terribly as a result. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. And don't expect coffee except with the breakfast buffet, which doesn't begin until 7 and only includes cold food. A real disappointment.

Cons:
* Location: not convenient with 1 or 2 restaurants nearby, no kiosk or supermarket
* Room size is small
* Shower: tiny space and the bath curtain will stick the body when shower
* no water kettle in the room, but you can get very hot water a few steps up from the reception

Pros:
* Staff: friendly reception
* Shower: strong hot water

It was a nice stay.

The hotel is well positioned in Borgarnes for visiting the town. It's an easy stroll to a walking path beside the beach. The room was comfortable but had no kettle for tea or coffee. There's a large hot water container available on the 1st floor but no cups.

I stayed here for one night as part of an organized tour. The room was clean, the Wi-Fi was strong, and the bed was comfortable. There was no kettle in the room, so I had to go downstairs to the dining hall to get hot water from the water dispenser. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was decent. Overall, everything was ok.

Soulless place

Room was a good size although the bathroom was tiny. Continental breakfast was okay. No kettle or fridge in the room however there is an urn of hot water available on the first floor outside the restaurant. Hotel is close to the beach so good area to check out the northern lights.

The hotel reopened in early March 2024 as Hotel Vesturland with new owners. We stayed there for two nights as part of our 6-day Iceland tour with Trafalgar Tours. The staff could not have been nicer. Food in the attached restaurant was excellent, the staff was friendly and concerned to be certain that everything was just right for us. The room was comfortable, with plenty of pillows and towels. The hotel itself doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside and room decor are lovely. There's a minimalist aesthetic in Iceland, very much the spare Nordic style, but done with first rate materials and serious attention to design and function. If you go to the Borgarnes area of Iceland, it's well worth staying here.

Hotel is in the center of town. Easy walk to water’s edge and some restaurants. This was our final hotel on our tour-operated Rim Road road trip. I don’t know what was paid. We stayed here 2 nights and our room was very small, even by Icelandic standards. Bathroom and shower were one tiny room. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Free breakfast was the usual Continental spread. All ok.

This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. The double room was a bit outdated but perfectly fine, a good size and clean. The bathroom was small and had a strange shower with concertina doors that did not work well and could lead to a very wet floor. As a solo traveler though, it was all fine. The dinner in the restaurant was just okay, not bad but not wonderful either. Breakfast was in a HUGE room with large circular tables, quite unusual. However the breakfast spread was very limited and uninspiring with no hot food at all.

Comfortable stay in a rustic and eclectic setting. Room was comfortable but limited amenities. Staff was very friendly and it was fun interacting with dogs at hotel. Enjoyed the outdoor hot tub after a day of hiking. Dinner was great and breakfast fine.

This is a very nice large hotel that can host bus groups. Very clean and high standards. We ate dinner at another restaurant so do not know how crowded the dining room was. At breakfast, there were a lot of people but they had enough sitting as they opened up a separate room. I would stay here again.
