Everything is so beautifully decorated. The spa was lovely.
We loved everything about this hotel in the charming countryside backed by mountains with views of Icelandic horses and the distant sea in front. The food at the restaurant was some of the best that we experienced in our weeklong stay in Iceland. The breakfast was complimentary with many options to choose from. Plenty of activities offered by the property including horseback riding with wonderful views from the mountaintop. The staff were extremely kind/courteous.
The staff was fabulous. Friendly, helpful and the vibe was more like a visit with friends than a hotel. We rode horses a first for both of us and the guides and stable folks were terrific. Location is good for site seeing in the Vik area. The rooms were comfortable. 10/10.
Beautiful setting, clean straight-forward design. Horses! Fly-fishing! Super nice staff.
Nice hotel but on the expensive side.
This small Inn was located in a lovely setting with a great view of the Westman Islands. The staff were so gracious and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic - especially the mussels and the bread! The spa with hot tub and sauna were terrific. A great experience for the equestrians with trail rides available! A very special place indeed. Deborah
My wife and I had an excellent one night stay at Skalakot Manor Hotel as part of our 12 day tour of Iceland. The hotel was great, our room was really nice and the spa was fantastic! Staff and breakfast were great too. We did a one hour horse riding tour on the morning we check out which was delightful - would highly recommend it! Daria was our guide and she was great!
Charming boutique hotel with wonderful views, food, service and horses too. The restaurant for dinner is a treat and the full buffet breakfast fuels you for a day of glaciers, waterfalls and volcanic beaches:)
Fabulous inn and location, great staff, excellent food and service. On site spa was a bonus! Highly recommend staying here, just wish we had longer.
Very peaceful surroundings
Highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are wonderful and the food in the restaurant is incredibly delicious. The option to go horse riding on the property is a great addition and so much fun. Great place to stop when driving back to Reykjavik from Diamond Beach.
We have a lovely one night stay at Skalakot. It’s very charming, simple hotel in beautiful surroundings. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The spa was small but nice, gets quite cramped if there are more than 4 people in there. I think it would benefit from an outdoor hot tub. Dinner was nice, breakfast was ok.
We loved our stay here. It was perfect. The staff (esp Michael and Alina) were so nice and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. The spa was divine. The food was great. Service was impeccable.
Friendly and kind staff. Amazing food
We loved the cozy vibes combined with an excellent service and homely atmosphere, where even the owner himself wishes you a Merry Christmas. The dinner at the restaurant was absolutely anmazing and we really enjoyed the fireplace afterwards. We can warmly recommend staying at Skalakot and will definitely come back ourselves!
Das sauberste Hotelzimmer, dass ich je betreten habe.
Super Hilfsbereites Personal
Das Frühstück sowie das Abendessen waren auf ganz hohem Niveau.
Wir kommen auf jedenfalls wieder.
The chef was incredible. The food was amazing and exceptional. The bar had unique and delicious cocktails, as well as an acceptable wine list. However, the property is very isolated and has very few amenities. The experience will be weather dependent. If bad weather, you are in remote area and feel stuck with very little to do. Local tour companies do not pick up at property and you must drive to their base camp, we found it scary and a little dangerous driving back to property at night. I must empathize, the staff could not be more kind and accommodating with what they have to work with, so a very nice group of people.
Adorable Inn, great location between Glacier Bay and Reykjavik near the Black Sand Beach. We stayed two nights. I rode the one hour ride to Irafoss while my husband hiked the gorgeous countryside. Very mountainous and multiple trail options. I wish I had chosen the longer ride as the ponies famous gait, the Tölt, is as smooth as silk and their horses were fabulous. Skálakot Manor is in a cute little valley with sheep, a couple houses and a church.
Friendly place with lovely amenities. Great spa area with glass sliders that open up to view of the valley. I also got a great massage while there. Loved the food and at the end of the day they light a little fire upstairs in the sitting area.
Heads up-don’t get the smallest room like we did. It is tiny w a minuscule bathroom.
This was our second trip to Iceland, this time without the kids. Skalakot Manor was fabulous! The breakfast was to die for, and the dinners were equally exquisite. Laid back and very restful! The sauna and hot tub were welcoming every afternoon once the sun was setting before dinner. We got to see the northern lights one night immediately outside our door. Couldn’t have been a better place to celebrate our anniversary. We are already planning our return trip!
Stunning property with staff that goes above and beyond to give you the full boutique hotel experience! The location is great, close to many locations along the south coast. The restaurant on site was excellent, breakfast included had a great variety, we enjoyed everything we ate here for 2 nights! We had onsite massages that the staff pre-arranged for us before we arrived and enjoyed the onsite spa. One of the top hotels I have stayed at. I would recommend to anyone coming to Iceland. We were able to see the northern lights a short drive away from the hotel
