What: Dense fog reducing visibility to near zero. When: Tonight and Thursday morning. Where: Greater Victoria, Malahat Highway, Gulf Islands, Inland Vancouver Island, East Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley west and central, Howe Sound, Sea to Sky Highway, Whistler, Pemberton. Additional information: A ridge of high pressure over the south coast is trapping cool and humid marine air near the surface. As a result, dense fog has formed in some places already and will likely to become more widespread over the South Coast tonight. Dry, outflow winds are forecast to clear the fog in many areas on Thursday. ### Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #BCStorm. For more information about the alerting program, please visit: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/environment/weather/severeweather/weather-alerts/colour-coded-alerts.
Widespread near zero visibility is possible. Adjust travel plans accordingly. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.
