Then immerse yourself in Local food culture. Sample the famous 'loukomades', and at a local hidden eatery your guide will show you many of the dishes being prepared such as 'yemista', yigandes' beeftekia, and others including a wide variety of traditional pittas (special sweet and savoury pies made with thin 'filo' pastry). Your guide will also help you choose the dishes you want before leaving you to enjoy them in the shade!

MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at Makrygianni Street at the Acropolis Metro stop which is just around the corner from the Acropolis Main Entrance. Our meeting spot gives an ideal perspective from which to view the surrounding wall of the Acropolis built by the earlier Mycenean civilization and to provide you with an introduction to the History of the Acropolis, its importance and role in the life of ancient Greece, and an overview of the temples and amazing monuments you are about to see.
TOURING THE ACROPOLIS AND PARTHENON The Acropolis is home to the Parthenon, and many other amazing monuments including the giant entrance 'Propylaia' you will enter through, behind which stood a huge gold encrusted statue of the Goddess Athena which must have struck awe into any ancient visitor. Once inside your expert guide will explain all of the other monuments including the 420 BC Temple of Athena Nike, Mythical Erechtheion, as well as the other structures including the Theater of Dionysis. Constructed in the 6th Century BC and the worlds oldest Theater, it would have seen the very fist performances of ancient plays by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus among others. Finally you will tour the Parthenon, widely considered as a masterpiece of science, engineering culture, and the pinnacle of the Greek Classical Period.
FOOD TASTING Immerse yourself in local Greek Food Culture as you learn about many traditional delicacies, from Loukomades to yemista', yigandes' beeftekia, and many others, including a wide variety of traditional pittas (special pies made with thin 'filo' pastry). See how they are made and end with your choice of dish with your helpful guide.
ENDING YOUR TOUR. After your guide has explained the local dishes and helped you make your food choices, she will leave you enjoy them and will also check that you are orientated for any onward plans you have for the rest of your day.

OPTION TO INCLUDE GREEK MYTHOLOGY If you have selected this booking option, you will start your tour at the Arch of Hadrian. The Temple of Olympian Zeus will be included (commentary but not entered) and your guide will focus commentary on Greek Mythology throughout.
