Wieliczka Salt Mine is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It illustrates the historic stages of the development of mining techniques in Europe from the 13th to the 20th centuries. It has hundreds of kilometers of galleries with works of art, underground chapels and statues sculpted in the salt, making a fascinating pilgrimage into the past.
It is a depth of 135 metres underground. The temperature in the mine is 17-18ºC, making it a good place to escape the summer heat.

Wieliczka Salt Mines are another must see attraction during your time in the city. The mines are spectacular, and if you take a tour then you’ll walk three kilometres through the underground tunnels reaching a depth of 136 metres below ground. During this tour you will see chambers, salt sculptures, a lake and even a big chapel. It is also the only mining site in the world which was functioning continuously since the Middle Ages.
