A custom built boat, with a custom built bike rack, Rachel effortlessly loads your bikes onboard her vessel, so you can ride the Otago Harbour Cycle Loop. A mostly flat, paved and scenic cycleway, a must do when visiting Dunedin. The Port To Port Cycle Ferry is iconic in Dunedin and ensures you can complete the loop in a safe and enjoyable way. What's Included

The Cycle ferry can take up to 20 people. Or 15 people and 15 bikes at a time. The vessel is partially sheltered on the outter deck and fully sheltered in the cabin. Please dress warmly, just incase.

You must organize your own bicycle. Please let us know if your bicycle weighs more then 25 kgs or has front wheels more than 100mm wide.
We do not provide snacks onboard, you are welcome to bring your own

We depart right on departure time from the floating pontoon. You will receive a message with exact departure location details/tips once your booking has been received.

What to expect

We will meet you at the departure point, either Port Chalmers or Portobello, so you can complete the Otago Harbour Cycle trail/loop.
Please ensure you have organised your own bicycle rental beforehand, (as we do not hire bikes).
The skipper loads the bikes for you, please ensure you have removed any bags from the bike 10 minutes before departure time so we have time to load your bikes.
We depart exactly on time.
You will receive a commentary along the way, and there are plenty of things to see and local history to learn about, including shipwrecks, historic quarantine building, birds, boats and more on this exciting 10 minute ferry crossing.
Once we arrive at the other side of the harbour you will depart and continue your cycle trip. The cycle trail is approx 32km in length. This takes a minimum of 2 hours, without stops and including the ferry trip. The cycle loop is self guided. Please ensure you are realistic with your abilities before embarking and check the weather forecast well before hand, to be sure you are happy to cycle. As the boat sails in almost any weather and we do not cancel for cold, rain or wind.
