Guests are welcomed into a lived-in, family space where cooking is not presented as a performance, but as a tradition passed down through generations. The experience is guided by hosts who are actively involved in community-based tourism and the local real estate ecosystem, offering a rare perspective that blends everyday life, culture and the evolving social fabric of the city.

As recipes are prepared, stories naturally unfold: about family heritage, local economy, traditions and how Cartagena lives today beyond what visitors typically see. The menu itself reflects this lineage, from carimañolas and patacones with hogao to coconut rice, fried fish, posta negra and avocado salad, finishing with enyucado — all accompanied by local beverages.

What to expect

Step inside a real Cartagena family home for an intimate, story-driven culinary experience hosted personally by Cindy.
This is not a commercial kitchen or a restaurant setting. It is a warm, local household where cooking becomes a bridge to understand Cartagena’s culture, economy, traditions and daily life.
As we cook together, we share family stories about growing up in Cartagena, about tourism, real estate, community development and how the city has evolved over generations.
The menu reflects recipes passed down from my mother, father and grandparents, flavours that define the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
We begin by preparing traditional carimañolas, crispy yuca (cassava) fritters stuffed and fried to perfection, alongside patacones topped with homemade hogao. For the main course, we cook a full traditional coastal spread: fragrant coconut rice, freshly prepared fried local fish, the iconic Posta Negra Cartagenera, slow-cooked beef in a rich caramelised sauce and a refreshing avocado salad to balance the flavours. And to finish, we prepare and enjoy enyucado, a beloved cassava-based dessert, served warm with vanilla ice cream.
