Designed for those seeking adventure, movement and discovery, this mountain biking experience takes you beyond the city into the authentic island landscapes of Tierra Bomba, just 15 minutes from Cartagena. This journey blends sport, history, culture and nature into one dynamic island experience.
The ride combines adrenaline and exploration as we navigate rustic trails, natural vegetation, varying elevations and secluded beaches. After approximately two hours of riding, we reach Fuerte de San Ángel, where a local guide welcomes us with fresh coconut water and shares stories about this place and Cartagena’s early history.
We continue toward Bocachica to visit the impressive Fuerte de San Fernando, a key landmark in the city’s colonial defence system and a setting tied to pirate lore and maritime conquest.
The experience concludes with a seaside lunch prepared by local chefs specialising in balanced, nourishing cuisine, a moment to relax before returning by boat to Cartagena.

1Tierrabomba Island
Tierra Bomba is the closest island to Cartagena de Indias’ old village. With four Afro-Colombian native fishing villages, the place is still very alive and interesting for the fortresses that the Spanish built during colonial times to defend the city’s entrance to the bay and access to it. Enjoy discovering important places in the village of bocachica and bike through the forest to encounter a XVII military fortress where canons were fired to defend the city against pirates.

Explore 400-Year-Old Fortresses – Visit the island’s ancient fortifications, including Batería del Ángel San Rafael and San Fernando de Bocachica, key military structures that once defended Cartagena from pirate invasions.
