    It is a historic building of almost 3,500 square meters, located in the walled city of Cartagena de Indias, which is divided into two large wings: Colonial and Republican. The history of navigation and the Colombian Navy. Colonial Wing: It was built in colonial times, it preserves intact the architectural structure with which it was built in the early seventeenth century to become the headquarters of the first school of the company of Jesus in America and the late eighteenth century. The building served as the headquarters of the mayor hospital of San Carlos. After independence, it became the San Juan de Dios charity hospital. Republican wing: Name that has been given to the neoclassical architectural design that was used in the modification of the room in the 20th century, to serve as a shelter for the first infantry battalion of the Colombian Navy.
