The journey begins just outside the town of French Harbor when you pass through a quaint ramshackle village which represents the gateway to the Roatan East End. A mountaintop road meanders some 15 miles across the central spine of the island and offers stunning views of both the northern and southern coasts of Roatan. Along the way, you’ll spot signs pointing away to picturesque hamlets like the communities of First Bight, Milton Bight, Politilly Bight, Jonesville, a small fishing village that was established way back in the 1800s, Oak Ridge the “Venice of Roatan” and more communities.
This is a small-group tour and you will be accompanied by an English-speaking local guide and driver throughout, in a private vehicle. All activities and excursions in this tour of Roatan are private (only for the group). The price displayed is per person. All tours can be tailor-made to suit your interests and requirements.
Our staff will wait all necessary time until they meet our guests at the airport or ferry terminal, we will be with a "Roatan Five Stars" sign.
Upon your arrival at Roatan island International Airport, you will be welcomed by a local English-speaking guide, who will be with you most days during this tour of East of Roatan. After a 1-hour scenic drive, you will arrive at the Calabash Bight beach resort, where you can enjoy a free afternoon and evening to relax and acclimatize after the flight, with the front ocean view and white sand beach. The resort has seven cabins, kayaks in case you want to do some kayaking or just relax and refresh at the beach enjoying the great ocean breeze and beautiful view of the Calabash Bight community. Dinner will be served at the resort restaurant.
Our day will start with a mangrove tunnel tour. You will find yourself surrounded by lush red mangroves and turquoise waters, our guide will provide information about the eco-tunnels.
Is time for our fun island-hopping speedboat sightseeing & refresh in turquoise waters. We will explore the last communities of the east end of Roatan, the old and new Port Royal, Lime Cay & Fort Morgan (Home of the Pirates). You will have the opportunity to view from a distance the fortress at Fort Morgan cay. A couple of meters ahead you will view the beautiful Cow & Calf rocks emerging from the ocean until we get to the largest area of mangroves. We will sail from the south to the north side of the island, discovering St. Helene, Morat & Barbareta islands & Pigeon Cay the last tip of the eastern side of Roatan island. On our way back we will have a fresh seafood lunch at a tropical palapa enjoying the local living at Saint Helene’s community. An optional walk is included to explore the local living of St. Helene island. The day will finish with sailing back to Calabash bight community enjoying the sunset.
Today you will enjoy a private day trip, to see and experience the spectacular turquoise crystal-clear waters of the Northshore area of Roatan tropical island. This is a unique snorkeling tour including the starfish bank, the coral garden reef & blue channel drop, plus the “Snyg” shipwreck where you will appreciate the reef and colorful reef fish like parrotfish, barracuda, schools of fish, eagle rays, yellow tang, damselfish & much more species. Our guide will share the history of the 126 years shipwreck over the reef and tropical refreshment.
After visiting the Big Bight town and enjoying the snorkeling, we will drive to Punta Gorda village, the firsts Garifuna village, to learn and have an immersive cultural experience by learning about their history, ancestral traditions, Punta dance & tasting experience with members descendants of an Afro-indigenous population from the Caribbean island of St Vincent who was exiled to the Honduran coast in the eighteenth century.
After breakfast, we will enjoy a drive by dirt road to Diamond Rock and Camp Bay villages, located in the northeast near the National Park of Port Royal. At Diamond Rock, a villager will show us and give us information about farming, organic coconut oil & milk extraction, natural medicine that our ancestors used before.
After our local experience with the villagers, we will stop at Las Sirenas Bar & Restaurant for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Camp Bay beach, just about 10 minutes from Las Sirenas, where Roatan’s largest natural white sand tropical beach awaits, followed by an optional walk to the red rocks. Our guide will provide information about the Paya culture.
Free morning to relax or for more optional activities (Kayaking, or snorkeling). At the scheduled time, transfer to the international airport in Coxen Hole where you can catch your flight back home. Alternatively, transfer to the Roatan or Utila ferry terminal where you can take the ferry to La Ceiba (Mainland of Honduras) or Utila island. End of tour.
