    Two massive rock temples: the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller Temple of Hathor and queen Nefertari South of Aswan lies the world famous Abu Simbel Temples, carved into rock by Ramses II. The colossal statues at the entrance and the intricate carvings inside celebrate his reign and devotion to the gods. Relocated in a massive UNESCO project, Abu Simbel is both an archaeological wonder and a symbol of international cooperation. Twice a year, the solar alignment phenomenon illuminates the inner sanctuary, drawing visitors from around the world. It is one of Egypt’s most iconic and awe inspiring sites.
