Begin your Amazon adventure with a warm welcome at Puerto Maldonado airport or bus terminal. After a brief orientation at our local office, enjoy a scenic drive through beautiful landscapes to the village of Puerto de Philadelphia, the gateway to Tambopata National Reserve.
Boat Journey on the Amazon (approx. 1.5 hours): Enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Tambopata River in a motorized boat, surrounded by pristine rainforest. During the trip, take a guided walk through primary jungle and climb a 30-meter canopy tower for stunning panoramic views of the treetops and wildlife. Arrival at Eco-Lodge: Settle into your private ensuite room at the sustainable jungle lodge, where you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and a delicious Amazonian lunch made from local ingredients. We start our second day early at 4:00 A.M., departing from Tambopata Lodge Inn for a scenic boat ride into the Tambopata National Reserve. Our destination is the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, a mineral-rich clay wall where hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets gather to feed. From a comfortable viewing area, you’ll observe vibrant species such as the red-and-green macaw, blue-and-yellow macaw, and scarlet macaw. Experience the grandeur of the Amazon rainforest from above and enjoy the opportunity to see various types of monkeys while taking in the stunning scenery. Next, we continue with another memorable part of your adventure.
This mineral-rich clay wall is a natural site where Amazonian birds come to feed and detoxify. Watch flocks of macaws arrive in pairs, filling the sky with vibrant colors and sounds. The area is perfect for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts looking for a unique wildlife experience.
The boat ride along the Tambopata River provides opportunities to see capybaras, black-and-white caimans, and monkeys along the riverbanks. It’s a calm and enjoyable way to experience the natural beauty of the Amazon.
After a brief stop in Puerto Maldonado to purchase water or snacks, continue to Amazon Garden Lodge for the canopy walk experience. Walk among the treetops, enjoying panoramic views of the rainforest from above.
Begin your day with a sunrise visit to the Tambopata National Reserve, one of the most biodiverse areas in the Amazon. After a short boat ride, enjoy a gentle 3-kilometer walk along a wooden trail through lush rainforest, observing exotic plants and wildlife. At the trail’s end, board a rowboat to explore Sandoval Lake, home to giant river otters, black caimans, herons, monkeys, macaws, and more.

Discover how they create fire using natural materials, weave cotton into traditional Cushma clothing, and craft tools from jungle plants. A meaningful and respectful cultural experience.
As night falls, enjoy a guided walk with flashlights through the jungle. Discover the Amazon’s nighttime wildlife, including porcupines, sloths, night monkeys, owls, spiders, and more. A memorable way to experience the rainforest after dark.
After a hearty breakfast and some well-deserved rest, enjoy a visit to Monkey Island, located in the heart of the Madre de Dios River, just minutes from the lodge. This protected area is home to several monkey species, including a rare capuchin hybrid. You'll have the opportunity to observe their playful behavior and offer them local fruits. With a bit of luck, you might also spot sloths and river turtles in their natural habitat.
On the way to the island, enjoy a peaceful ride along the riverbanks, where you may observe endangered river turtles, white caimans, kingfishers, and herons in their natural environment. This tranquil experience offers unique wildlife viewing and scenic landscapes. After this memorable jungle visit, return to the lodge for a delicious farewell lunch featuring local Amazonian flavors, a perfect moment to reflect on the journey and share final impressions.
After lunch, return to Puerto Maldonado by boat, where ground transportation will be arranged to take you to the airport in time for your departure.
