The Plaza de la Aduana or the Customs Plaza is where imports and exports were registered and where many of the treasures acquired by the conquistadores would be shipped off to Spain. It was also the entry point for the import of goods into the territories of Venezuela, Colombia, Panamá and Ecuador.
The Museo de Arte Moderno has an excellent collection of Colombian modern art that includes artists like Obregón, Grau, and Botero.
In the center of Plaza de Bolívar you’ll find a statue of the father of Colombian liberation from Spanish rule Simón Bolivar. Bolivar also led the armies of Venezuela, Ecuador, Perú and Bolivia to accomplish their mission of independence from Spain.
